Garage Queen or Winter User?

Sits tucked up in the garage from around Nov to April/May I have other vehicles more suited to the winter.

Ditto
Plus I've got dodgy old legs and find washing the car properly in the cold and wet weather is very difficult.

I know a lot of folk criticise putting putting a car away in the winter months but which car would you rather buy?

Personally. I only understand summer use if the car is a classic. Parts, expertise and the overall engineering of modern cars don't need to be pampered like a classic.

Can't help it mate wife thinks I'm bonkers ,if it was a focus or bog std car etc trust me I would not be so protective ,could be all the money invested in it ,and I try to look after my stuff :headbang:

Daily use for me!
I have the option to take the train to work... But why! When I've got something in the garage (when the door has not just been blown off by the wind) just begging to be driven. My commute is only 25 miles round trip when I'm working but the scenery is also a plus!
The roads here are quite heavily salted - sometimes unnecessarily - which means extra washing or at least jet washing.
It's not good for any vehicle to be lying up too long... But I also understand that if you have a 4x4 as a second or third car then this might be a better option than the zed in the crap weather we can have! I don't have that option...

Normally gets used in winter, dry, sunny day - roof down, seat heaters and enjoy the drive. Still use it on wet grey days not so much.

It's a third car here as well, but if the weather is good, I'll be driving it :-) However, I won't be driving it on wet days though I do in the summer. For the simple reason that cleaning the car in the winter is just darn cold!

Mine's a 3rd car so use it all year but only when the weather's nice. No enjoyment to be had in a long trip on a wet dark miserable day, so rather do it in the D3 or my A8. Save the Z for top down days... :D

Similar combination here.

Hard to beat!

Think you can all guess......shes a queen, has been most of her life TBH but now with the high investment in mods shes kept purely for use in dry days, and not used for parking in dodgy carparks or used at night etc etc.....means she hardly ever used now but with the car mint inside and out and i mean you have to see it to believe it mint lol and the low millage why wouldnt i look after and maintain her
I think anyone with only one car as a sports car and then using that as a daily driver is madder then a mexicans dog

Guess that makes me madder than a Mexicans dog then  . My Z has served me well but at 150,000 miles, she is no garage queen! When you do the maths though, I paid £8k 4 years and 70,000 miles ago, it is still worth AT LEAST £2-3k.

I love a mint clean car but when you do miles like me, you just have to accept that your car is going to take the brunt unless you spend money that your never going to get back.

I personally think its a bargain for what I paid, even if I got nought back, I wouldn't have wanted to do 70k in something I didn't love for the sake of saving a couple of grand! :driving:

My MR isn't my main car but it gets used all year round, I normally only take it out when it's dry and can have the top down, and it's likely to be a nice drive. The rest of the time I take the big comfy car, which is currently a Jag XFR 8)

Dedicated set of 17" wheels for winter. Goes very well.

Only problem is that I have a mineral white car now although it was mineral grey 2 weeks ago. They are using more salt on the roads here than we had combined snowfall so far.

Trip from Scarborough to London and back over the last 2 days with no problems other than other idiot drivers on the road not driving according to the conditions :driving:

God knows how mad you think I am then. Choosing to drive the zed as a daily when I've a 5 series touring I could use. Then going on Hol in two sports cars and leaving the touring at home.

Anyway I'm choosing to drive the Z4 over winter so the Porsche is staying warm and dry. Only daft part about that is it has the best quality winter tyres
