Hi Guys

After we went thought the hassle of selling our house twice and it collapsing twice and once on the day of exchange! :headbang: we decided to turn what we have into something that we want which involves a grand design extension etc anyway that's boring ......part of the negotiations with management was I could spend some dollar pimping my garage out :D

So am looking for some input guys as to what you have done / want to do to your inspiration basically!

So in my head so far:

Led spot lighting
New Floor - Found this stuff - thinking black with a red rim? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/12mm-Garage-Workshop-Machine-Flooring-Mat-Tiles-Red-Blue-Grey-Black-or-Checkered-/290730397667?pt=UK_Flooring&var&hash=item43b0e1cfe3
A new storage units - Used a old kitchen in past - plan to get a black base and wall units with either black gloss or red doors? Ikea look pretty good bet as there deep with high base feet
Some general racking - For example - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/380964390559?_trksid=p2060778.m1438.l2649&var=650298794168&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
Bike Racks - Standard
Pictures of all the cars I have ever owned - on one wall -
Paint the walls and ceiling white with a red strip around the room to carry on the theme

Is there anything else I should be thinking about ? Also happy to add pics as I go along if anyone is interested

Cheers Paza

 agree with the 2post lift

At my last house I had central heating in the garage (much missed at this house)

I worked on a custom PT Cruiser a few weeks ago and the guys garage was just as impressive,he had quite a few neon lit signs spread around the walls that came on when he switched the main light on.I must admit it did look good, might even get one or two for my newly built garage... It certainly brightened it up and made his garage a nice place to be.

Some thoughts from my experience:
* good quality bench with vice(s), bench drill, grinder etc
* as many power points as possible
* there is never enough storage, whether its shelves, cupboards, drawers
* proper flooring as you are doing is very worthwhile
* heating & some very good overhead lighting

We do use the garage for storing two cars but the attached will give you an idea of how much accumulates:

Now that's what every workshop/garage should look like

Head over to www.Houzz.com for inspiration.

Some things you might want to consider if a man cave
Sound system wiring,
Plasma or projector

Looks really good, is there room for a car with all the gear in?
Looks like a fish tank in one of the pics?
You'll have to show what upstairs looks like sometime.

Guys awesome stuff , giving me some good ideas. Now i suppose its more garage / man space than cave I guess ... The sofa will only be for the dog.... hmmm I shall plot my progress :D

I will hopefully be starting it in Oct so should be done in a few weeks, I do really like the idea of some heating as it will help when detailing the beast over the winter. there is a huge space above the garage which would make a lovely actual man cave ... but management have plans to fill it with another bedroom... which can only mean one thing.... more babies

for me i would want these at a min. i already have a few.

FLAT floor, solid with a drain and some sort of rubberised floor. (eg 18mm stable matting).... got carpet at the mo its ace when working on the westfield
roller door not up/over that seals properly at the sides and bottom... nothing more annoying that stuff blowing in/ drafts when your on the floor
solid workbench. and sensible storage (already have 2x tool chest from westy cant beat them.) shelves/draws
Water. HOT and cold so annoying not having water in a workshop i currently have rigged a hose and bucket system.
lighting/plugs: flood wired with plugs. you cant have enough plugs... need to be overhead/ on walls and of course a lot on the benches. as for lighting work this out when you've got everything in. strip/led strip for the main area. several over the bench so your not in shadow when working.

these are a must for me, i would also have a decent beam for a chain block although i do have an engine crane too.

if money wasnt too much of an issue i would also have a lift, something like a 2 post lift.

all stuff like wall colour/pictures etc can be added anywhere.

i also worked into my conditions the garage was mine and mine alone. at the time her indoors had horses and started to fill it up with horse s**t stuff. saddles etc. she found them on the drive one day. if you want to keep crap like that and bikes... get a shed :D... i should add we bought our house with a garage specifically for me to do the car
