G29 manual

So, after 60 years of autos costing a premium over a manual, BMW have gone and turned the tables and charging £5,000 MORE for a much simpler and cheaper gearbox. Then called it the 'hand-shandy' package!
Well done BMW! :happyclap:

Stop trying to pretend you don't want one - bet you'll be on the phone to Sytner Sheffield first thing tomorrow morning trying to secure a deal

Great to see frozen Green in the UK. Love the car, love the colour and interior. Will wait for a demo or low mileage used with an Auto box though.

Us pensioners can't afford new, we have to watch the pennies :poke:

BMW done it with the Mini before.

The Toyota Supra manual is cheaper than the automatic.

Those photos don't do the exterior colour justice. I saw one last week coming out of BMW UK in Farnborough and thought the paint colour looked pretty good, but it isn't as good as Thundernight!

I'm thinking of a visit to Sytner Sheffield to have a look, the thought of a Manual M40i is highly tempting :driving:

Just be careful; this is Shytner we are talking about. They will probably charge you for 'looking'.

The colour is stunning, but as far as I’m concerned a manual gearbox is a retrograde step.

I like to make life easier these days :)

That is absolutely lovely looking, that colour, the seats and did I mention the gearbox.

sars - if you get that, I will have to add you to my harem

[ref]pvr[/ref], hey, if you buy me the car, I might consider it

I showed the picture to "he who must be obeyed"  and he said we're not having a green car, he's now sleeping in the guest bedroom until he comes to his senses

I went to look at the G29 Manual in Northampton at the weekend, I was sooooooo tempted. It's true that the paint does not photograph well for some reason. In person it looks great and I reckon out in the sun it will be even better.

I'd usually say im pretty good at photography with my phone, getting lighting correct etc but with the showroom lights it just seems really difficult to capture this colour properly.

I've done by best for some of you to enjoy and others to mock the colour as it does seem to divide people! I reckon most would be convinced if they saw it in person and outside.

So so tempted!! :driving:

What do you all think?

It does it for me as I am so tempted by the San Remo green but the price and the additional first year road tax of £1095 is just out of my comfort zone at the moment

You're right, it looks so much better on the road than in any photos I've seen.

But why does that rear plate say "BMW Z4M" - it isn't an M. :x

You do realise it is feckin' green?
I would rather walk, or worse still, take the bus (and I haven't been on a bus since I left school in 1984). :)

That's what I think. :D

It should have said "BMW Z4 Minging colour" but they couldn't fit it all on.

But it’s quicker than a Z4M

The Auto is claimed to be 0.4 seconds quicker to 62mph, but I doubt the Manual will be. And they are nearly 20 years newer!

There are some good "incentives" at the moment..
First year road tax paid in full (~£1600) and if you can prove you own any other BMW, there is an additional £1500 off (I think that ends 31st July). Theres around £5k off the "retail" price on BMW's website, but I think is crazy the manual is a ~£5k option over auto!

Then, there could be a bit of a deal to be done based on my discussion for some additional discount. Finance on new (not many used of these about, ive seen one!) is around 4.9% which I dont think is toooooo bad.

If you want the salesman's details let me know, he was actually really good, no nonsense or games - nice bloke.

Yea, maybe it should say "M Sport", do the still use that term? Maybe they missed 40i off the end?

It Frozen Green :poke: :D

I'd love to know what this whole green car issue is. It goes back decades doesnt it?! Something about them being unlucky??

Yep, from what I've read it is slightly slower but arguably more "fun and engaging experience"? :fuelfire: :D
