Has anyone considered wrapping their car fully? If so any idea on prices. Or anyone in that business? My paintwork is not as good as I'd like it to be and I'm sure a wrap is cheaper than full respray! Also the wrap can be removed if I ever go ahead and do something ridiculous!

1250 i was quoted for matt black or matt white.

Where was that from?

Anyone know the procedure to totally change the colour? Ie tell insurance company tell dvla etc?
Part of me is looking to go from black paint to off the wall wrap. Other part of me says stay sane and just a full carbon type black wrap.

Tbh it may never happen but really fancy it.

Cheers peddy. I would've thought dvla were more likely to need to know though. I bet its Easier to sort the insurance rather than dvla!

nope... it's not a permanent change, so no need to inform them.

1250 is quite high IMO... I got quoted 990 and that's with my hardtop.

Try fxuk.net

They have an extensive list of clients and have a nice gallery of work to show too.

Full wraps from £600(+vat)....

if there are stone chips do they need to be sorted before the wrap - would they show when wrapped?

Small world, I used to house share with guy called Tony that is a senior member of their team. Great guy & great company - very trustworthy, he did some work for me in the past.

surely paint correction would be cheaper :?

agreed, it would be,but since having the car keyed by vandals i have been imagining it as a totally diff colour. usually when i get something damaged it puts me off it and i want a new one. i do love this car and getting it wrapped would save from buying a new one, but give me the same satisfactory feeling. :)

Wrapping facts:

1. My cost was £1k
2. They last about 3 years
3. They curve the wrap around and under ALL panel joints
4. You can see the original paint colour when the doors, boot, and bonnet are opened
5. They do not damage your paintwork and generally protect it
6. They can be jet washed, but you can cut the wrap at sharp angles
7. Wraps are not as easy to clean as paint work. A jewash alone will not clean a wrap properly as the wrap absorbs dirt (especially when warm) in a way that paint does not.
8. People cannot key yor car. It's really hard to damage the wrap.
9. You can get some delimitation around complex and or hot shapes, mirrors, Lights etc.
10. If you're in to detailing, a wrap isn't for you.
11. You don't need to tell the DVLA, as it's nit a permanent colour change.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for that daffy

Was a bit concerned about how easy it is to key or damage the wrap, but your comment makes me feel more confident. I'm not into detailing, I take it to a hand wash place once a fortnight and that's about it. I'm not over precious with the car.

I suspected the original colour would be present in the 'hidden' bodywork. My car is black with black 230s, so I suppose there is a bit of colour tie-in there, does mean I need to think of a complementary body colour to wheels and door jambs etc.

Don't really want Matt black, and not too sure about carbon fibre all over, but candy Apple red won't work with the exposed paintwork. Decisions decisions........

I had my old B5 S4 Avant wrapped a few years back, from Grey to white.
I had it done by Total Dynamics in Cumbernauld, although they are a nationwide company, I was £1175 for the full wrap and carbon B pillers. I didn't have the door shuts done though. it was just for a bit of a laugh in between shows when my Rallye was away getting mapped.
