Fuel cost and hooning...

Just musing if the current fuel costs are having a limiting impact on peeps hooning activities.

Are you ignoring it and out flying around as normal, or thinking "I'm not going as far today" or even "The Zeds staying put this weekend" etc.

My taxi costs per week are insane....and only going to go one way..... :(

Working mostly from home the last 2 years, i have saved ca. £ 2500.-- at least
So a healthy pot available for hooning :driving:

Kathleen and I discussed this (very briefly) after TWO fill ups on our one day blast last weekend and I casually mentioned how much it was costing.

Word for word her exact response was “if it needs feeding, it needs feeding. This is our fun thing and it’ll cost what it’ll cost”

I had mentioned it with our European trip in mind where it’s generally thought we might see €3 p/l by the time we’re there. But again, that’s our main holiday this year so budget creep for fuel is just part and parcel.

I think just on forum stuff we’ve got 8-10k planned plus whatever trips we do ourselves :driving:

To be honest I've tended to withdraw into a bubble the past few weeks and deliberately tried to avoid as much news as possible which is harder than you think, BBC news its Ukrain 24/7. What with just getting over hopefully the worst of the pandemic to then swap to ever increasing living costs and now the situation with Ukrain it's quite a depressing time although I should count myself lucky in the grand scheme of things. With working from home 99% of the time fuel costs have dropped but I hadn't quite appreciated how high costs had shot up the past few weeks. Haven't filled up for a while and thought I would top up last Thursday, knowing 30 quids worth should fill the tank up and 55 quid later I thought wow. So pretty much over a 100 quid to fill the tank up if running low, crazy. It will put me off just going out for a nice drive for the moment but hopefully it won't last long as I think prices are due to drop again soon.

You have to feel for those who drive for a living.

Tim.

She's a fucking gem your missus ..keep a tight hold of that one big man

Still getting out there whenever possible.
Life isn't a rehearsal and Putin could KFC us all tomorrow so live for the day.

Yep, feeling a little guilty taking the car out to just drive around for a bit of fun despite wifey telling me to. Trying to just use it for business use when I don't need the van, i.e. visiting customers now that Covid is less bad. At least I can then get something back from the Tax man.

Like everything else in this Country, that's going up too! Won't be on the news, though, because it's 'so last month'

I know bud, and I also know I’m punching so win win all round

Don't use mine in the winter - will start next month but it is a weekend toys so probably a tank every 4 to 6 weeks but at £100 to fill up its frightening and will push me towards electric for SWMBO next car.

My lad is using my Corsa for a few weeks as he has sold his Transporter and he said £70 to fill it up - £70 for a Corsa

It's crazy how the fuel prices have gone. Has anyone succumbed to putting in the dreaded supermarket petrol yet? Or is it just a myth about the quality of their fuel? :-?

I live next to an airbase, I’d probably just see the flash :o

Morrisons had 7p off per litre last week if you spend £40 in the shop. Must say I was tempted

May succumb to just one tank if it happens again and prices keep going up

Ah that takes me back!
When you see the flash, dive to the ground, face down and tuck your arms under you facing towards the flash. Wait for the blast to pass over you and for the return wave to come back. Then jump up and get into full NBC gear. Carry on as though nothing had happened!

I figure it costs what it costs - not much point paying £600 for Road Tax and not using it!

I've been using Tesco fuel for years, but only their 99RON Momentum and haven't had a problem with it.
