Fuel cost and hooning...

I always use Asda/Tesco/Sainsbury’s regular unleaded, whatever is handiest at the time, never had a problem with any of my cars including 3 E89s and my current G29.

Being a pensioner now my relatively low mileage means that the increased prices don’t have a huge impact on me directly, but I notice shop prices for food etc increasing week by week.

Pretty much all my petrol cost is for pleasure. Will have to go up a lot more before it has any affect. But for sure if it goes up enough it will. I've been up to North Wales and the Lakes so far this year with trips to Scotland still to come. I love the driving and I love the destinations. I haven't spent 45 years working my behind off to sit at home now I'm retired. :D :driving:

Its kind of having an effect, but i bought my latest fun car when petrol was £1.45 a litre already, so up to £1.60 or £1.70 isnt that much more. But the joy it brings to drive is worth it, especially now its warming up a bit and the days are getting longer.

And besides, im currently offsetting increased petrol prices by working from home more, every day i work from home is 40 miles of fuel saved for the weekend :D

It's crazy how the fuel prices have gone. Has anyone succumbed to putting in the dreaded supermarket petrol yet? Or is it just a myth about the quality of their fuel? :-?

Used tesco momentum in my 400bhp evo for years and it was absolutely fine

Still getting out there whenever possible.
Life isn't a rehearsal and Putin could KFC us all tomorrow so live for the day.

I live next to an airbase, I’d probably just see the flash :o
Rob
Ah that takes me back!
When you see the flash, dive to the ground, face down and tuck your arms under you facing towards the flash. Wait for the blast to pass over you and for the return wave to come back. Then jump up and get into full NBC gear. Carry on as though nothing had happened!
I refer to your forum name in reply. 8)

The general talk is that supermarket fuel is the same as any other but cheaper because they don't use the additives to clean the engine the main suppliers do. (Some say it gives you better MPH but that I doubt after seeing tests on 5th Gear).

Is this actually true and if it is, can you achieve the same outcome by using the cheaper fuel and occasionally adding your own additives?

Well I through caution to the wind and had the day off with the wife yesterday so went for a drive.
It went like this.......Roof down......fuel stop £40 (E10 as they had no E5) pi**ed it down after 30 mins so stop... get wet ...roof up carry on....dries up when at destination......go for walk......pi**ed it down on way back to car.....get wet....drive back with roof up....Stop for afternoon meal (£52)....drive home still pi**ing it down.....had fun and £92 lighter

A normal day in the life of a U.K. roadster owner

Well, I’m just contemplating getting ready for heading off tomorrow on the first forum weekend of the year. I already know no matter where we eat that the bloody fuel will cost more than anything else  5 tanks should do from door to door (he says hopefully) but that depends on how much singing the M40i does. We’ll say 6 tanks to be on the safe side :tumbleweed:

Just checked on my App and the average price around here is £1.63p, just don't get stuck with an empty tank out in the country, 20p more per litre at least.

I just paid £1.66 so not too bad. I’ll need to fill up somewhere north of Newcastle then again when we arrive for the morning. So hopefully no need for remote fill ups

Racking up a few miles this coming Saturday, don't care how much it will cost I'm going to enjoy myself :D

Nice one, enjoy the trip no matter how much it cost

I filled my Z4 last Wednesday and petrol had gone up again by Saturday!

All ready to go out tomorrow morning, although sadly a full tank doesn't go too far. :o
