Front wheel rub on newly fitted 19" CSLs

Just fitted some CSLs. I think I may have some rubbing on the front - its so slight when the suspension compresses over some bumps that most people probably would hear/feel it. They are of standard offset (38) on the front and I believe people havnt had any rubbing issues with this before on stock suspension height (3.0si sport).

What does people think I should do to get rid of this? Should I camber the wheels a little inwards? The allignment hasnt been touched since I fitted the wheels also. Thanks
 
Wheel rub......have you told your insurance company of the wheel change and the issues. I think they would make the decision for you. For me anything that compromises the safety of the vehicle on the road is a no no.
 
Wouldn't suggest changing the camber of the wheels to fix them rubbing - you can adversely affect the car handling and end up wearing our tyres very quickly.

I'm thinking tho that something like the camber has been knocked off from its stock position as so many people have fitted this combo with no problems? I do realise that too much will wear them out quicker. Thanks.

the front should take these no problem?? im guessing your using a tyre with a squarer profile, you'll be amazed how 2 different brands, same size can run very different physical width.... FYI i run -2.5 front camber to quell understeer and encourage turn in, i can confirm tye wear has increased :-)

edit : i should mention i have a front 12mm spacer taking front offset to +32 with the -2.5 camber adjustment the wheel is well in the wheel arch, this however wasnt the reasoning for the camber, on track i was seeing excessive outer shoulder wear on the fradly hairpin partuarly. Their is no rub under FULL compression of the suspension at all..... ths is on a 2007 Z4///M

i have 8.5x19 front's on 235/35 tyres with no rubbing, even on uneven surfaces..... and my tyres vreds are pretty squared off compared to say falkens.. But my offset is 40.. so would be very slights further inside the arches then yours.

Personally before messing about with the camber i would try running a thinner 225/35 profile tyre.
 
beedub - yea they should shouldn't they! Well they are falkens which arn't that square I would say. Do you think my allignment could up the left?

And I know about your crazy geometry setup-been following your threads lol.

Aquazi - thanks for the info. Don't want to be shelling our for some new tyres tho when I know this setup works for everyone else, has to be something up with my car.

Mr whippy - they are reps with offset 38 which many have fitted with no probs!
 
Hmmm, reps with the right offset for a non-M should be fine then.

Interestingly, FK452 are a narrower tyre than most, which is the worrying bit. My F1 Asymmetric for example, are about 9mm wider on the front vs the FK452 were.


Can you gather if it is rubbing on the inside or outside of the wheel. I wonder if you have been given the wrong offset reps? Wrong tyres fitted to the wrong wheel? (265's on the front?)

Yea I thought the falkens were less wide than most.

I think its rubbing on the outside of the tyre just a few mm from the outside shoulder - theres a small marking in some places around the tyre which I think is where its rubbing.

Thankfully I am not stupid enought to fit the wrong combo. Possible that I have the wrong offset of reps but the boxes were clearly labelled with the ones that I ordered.

Im thinking of placing a jack undernearth each tyre - jacking it up and seeing where it touches the arch?

Yea buddy its stock height for my si sport..would sagging be possible you think in 4.5 years and 27K miles?
 
No. Never heard or seen of saggy suspension... snapped springs possibly, but generally only ever at the back.


Check the wheels/tyres are 100% right. I don't doubt you have bought the right wheels/offset, and tyres, but are they all mounted properly.

If someone fitted the 265's to the front rims, and 235's to the rear rims, then you are looking and seeing a 235 on the front and thinking it's fine, but it might be on an inch wider rim!

If you have checked with your own eyes, the wheel markings and the tyres, then fine. If you haven't, then, well.

whippy you obviously have a problem and dont listen to people when they tell you something but I will clear this up for JUST you and make it very clear...

the correct widthed alloys are fitted to the corresponding tyre sizes which are of the same offsets as most people who fit replica alloys on the forum.

people must be laughing their ass off at this..i know i would be!
