Hello. Picked up my 07 Z4M Roadster yesterday, in beautiful Interlagos Blue.
I've driven a Honda S2000 for the last few years but recently decided to change as I was beginning to find it uncomfortable (particularly the seating position) on long motorway journeys and tiring in stop start London traffic, which form the bulk of my (admittedly low) annual mileage.
As such I've been looking to get an M3 convertible with the SMG transmission, for a bit more comfort, but for the reasons above I didn't consider the Z4M as I'd read that it had a harsh ride and stiff clutch.
Anyway, went to view an M3 at the weekend, but by the time I'd arrived it had sold. However, before I left disappointed, the beautiful blue Z4M caught my eye so I decided as I was there I should take a look. It seemed considerably more comfortable than the S2000 and taking it out for a spin the performance was phenominal! And as for the harsh ride and stiff clutch, maybe in comparison to a normal car but felt positively luxurious in comparison to the S2, I can't believe the difference.
So against my better judgement, without doing any serious research I immediately negotiated a good price, put my deposit down and collected it yesterday. And I'm loving it!
Next task is to review this forum and find out about the common problems and what I should've looked out for before buying the car...
Sometimes the heart just rules the head...
