Fourteen Days to wait

Went out today for a little tootle about - nice day, roof down and in no hurry. I slowed down as I entered a 30 and was quite smug when I saw the dreaded camera van. Then I realised I was over 30 - Not much over but over- maybe 35. I sort of spoiled my day a bit.

Now I wait.

Very much doubt it at your speed. You would be doing around 32 if your speedo was showing 35, as speedos over read.

Thats if your sure you were only doing 35

Certainly wasn’t any more.
The smug feeling didn’t last! If I do get done it will be a speed awareness course.

Not sure my speedo does read high as I’ve frequently gone towards one of those signs that flash the speed at you and they’ve generally coincided quite well.

When I saw the title I thought you had a new car incoming!

But I'll cross my fingers for you.

According to this article Ron you should be ok. Most police forces seem to operate a margin of 10% plus 2mph

Wales don't. My daughters boyfriend was reported for 31 in a 30.
And no, it wasn't a motorbike, it was a vw camper.
Money grabbing arsewipes.
He is appealing it.
The Welsh hate the English but love their money.

You should be ok Ron unless you're speedo was nudging 40 :)

My local camera safety van is always sneaky by parking at the top of a hill in a 30 zone so your natural inclination is to excelerate up the hill invariably doing more than 30

Tim.

Nowhere near 40 Tim!
If I do get captured it will be the first speeding ticket in 54 years! I should be thanking my lucky stars for that statistic

Frame it.

Not that your going to get one.

If I had a speeding ticket for every time I thought they must have got me there, I'd be skint.

Mine's more or less spot on at 30mph (according to TomTom and NextBase dash-cam) in both the Z4 and the 330D.

It's the higher end where the ~3-5% speedo drift makes any difference

But I do have larger than standard rear tyres on the Z4M, so that will have taken up some of the slack.

I don't hate the English, don't even like rugby, I don't shag sheep or live in a cave

Getting back to the point in question Ron, my son is doing a speed awareness course this month and it's via Zoom

Hopefully you'll be OK Ron
I read somewhere that all speedo's read high to prevent the manufacturer being sued for speed offenses, however they must be within 10%
I've checked mine out using a speedmeter app on my phone (cross checked with Dash cam)
At 30mph it's 2mph high

Years back, when I was in to all things Capri, I read the development history.
In that case, they could get the gearing spot on, but had to allow for markets with snow chains fitted, which would theoretically increase the rolling radius. Therefore they had to gear the speedo to that eventuality, meaning it over-read for everyone else.

I strayed into a bus lane a couple of days ago, I'm waiting to hear about that :x

Is that a “points” offence or just another wallet basher?

No points, £30 fine. At least it was when I last did it, about a year ago.
