I had cruise retrofitted to my 06 Z4 2.5si, it cost £500.00, instructions say its should take a couple of hours tops, they sure know how to charge!!!

However wouldn't buy a car without it, all those average speed cameras out there and all

Your dealer charges you £350 to fit then roughly. :o

I have bought a brand new stork for £45 delivered, and £18 for the loom so total cost to me will be £63 fitted.

Cheers M444rrt

mine is an 06 so I agree it does look a little more tricky on the wiring front. If not using a BMW dealer to fit would most car garages do this sort of work?

If does look much more complicated then i expected - but i think the hardest part will be getting the wire from the cabin to the engine bay wired correctly.

But i'll give it a go when it gets warmer!

There are serious issues with the BMW instructions regarding the N52 engines, I have yet to fit mine but will be producing a "How To", in the mean time I can provide you with the correct info on fitting, although if you do a search I have posted it here somewhere.

i read the original thread which gave me inspiration to do it.. think it was this one: http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=15323&hilit=cruise&start=45

The pics are brilliant

However i may struggle with getting the wire into the engine bay to even be able to wire it to the DME

But when its drier and warmer i'll give this a go - and take some pics, worse case it doesnt work and i get the dealer/ independent place to finish off what i started!

I struggled with that - but after asking another member on here who managed it, it turns out its actually very easy. The box which the DME is in has a small hole facing into the cabin which you can push the wire through from. All you need to do is route the wire behind the heater controls (just throw the wire from the drivers side and fish it out on the other end) so it pops out on the passenger side footwell - I had to remove the glove box to do this. Then, underneath the glove box there's a bit of plastic trim which has a few screws and once undone, push it down or off. You will then see a small white plastic hole leading directly into the DME box (stick your head down towards the floor). To make the hole more visible, open up the DME box cover and leave the bonnet open and you should get some daylight illuminating the plastic.

Here's a crude picture showing this a bit better: http://img696.imageshack.us/img696/9475/img00285201002091356.jpg

The part i'm struggling with though is finding which plug to stick this bloody wire into. The N46 engines dont have that "box" attached onto the side of the DME box like in the pictures srhutch posted :|

I called them today, Joe not available, spoke to another fella. ordered ZHP but it was £40.00 delivered rather than £34.00. still cheaper than my local dealer. ordered and paid over the phone will have it wednesday. great service.

Don't suppose your's is a 5 speed? Joe emailed me today to advise the original price he gave me for this part was wrong - I have updated the first post. For some reasons the 5 speed version is more expensive :?

Yes it is 5 speed.... must be the reason. one less number for them to print, six quid extra. weird

I got the ZHP for £34 delivered. Arrived today shame i was too much of a wuss to remove my old one in a hurry!

Mine arrived today. I had it delivered to work so I went into the car park and pulled the old one off and whacked the new one on. Looks great, feels totally different. Would recommend Soper's. Cheers

Last time I will mention this.... I promise. I Love the ZHP! makes such a difference to the whole 'driving experience' I am now a fan of little fat knobs. Excluding Aemon Holmes naturally

I mentioned this in another thread.. but i'll repeat it here!

imo the stock chrome one looks nicer, but the ZHP one feels better... I quite like the chrome mtec ones i have seen on eBay, but as i am not sure of their authenticity they may have a bad fitment.

So for the time being i will stick with my ZHP!

just ordered mine too... will be here on friday. :)

Just in case anyone is after the ZHP knob (6 speed) and lives Leicester way, Sytners Leicester are selling them for £34 also. Ordered today, should be in Friday.

Edit. Got the gear knob today, turns out the price they quoted me was minus the VAT! So paid £38 in the end, luckily I am VAT registered and can claim the VAT back, they also knocked a whole £1.70 off, so before VAT it works out to £32.30.

I would reccomend people go with the OP's dealer, as he seems more reasonably priced.

The owner is a world famous touring car driver...How cool's that?

Yeah i ordered a few things today from them..Joe counldn't be more helpful..

Received the regulator this morning.... cracking service and price

Nice little project for this weekend along with giving it a good clean and polishing my tips :D
