You're not the only one who's been down the single dad route. I was lucky enough to find a lovely lady who didn't think a bloke with two young kids was carrying too much baggage - single parenthood isn't the end of the line it's just the start of a new journey

defo gained a new respect over these last few years for the single moms out their anyway (who do this day in day out without half of my struggle and moaning).... not easy at all!! but i agree with you.... without trying to beat on about it, it is just a new direction.

Sorry, I didn't mean to sound like a Saint - I'm anything but... and perhaps my post gave the wrong impression :roll: I had shared custody with my ex-wife, so I had some respite, but as my kids got older my daughter chose to live full-time with me and my son chose to live with his mother - although my daughter still stays with her mother occasionally and my son with me.

I think that, as long as they are given consistency and the adults don't keep messing them around, children are very good at adapting to quite unconventional family setups

First festive reflection I've seen this year, and hats off to you. Having a 9 month old with both parents is hard enough and the lack of sleep....
You have my upmost respect, and from what I've read of your posts of the past couple of years, your son is already well grounded and I'm sure will continue to be your biggest achievement and your biggest fan.

I wish you both happiness and health, have a great Christmas and I hope 2014 is yet another chapter in your life story.

PS. What was your gift from Woots? Don't tell us.... a can of Red Bull?

Great post and you're right - as long as the parents don't mess them about - kids are resilient. My wife and I are 'second time arounders.' I have 5 children and my wife 3 by our previous spouses - its been hard work (and expensive!) but it's wonderful to see them successful adults all.

Have a brilliant Christmas - make the most of it 'cos they grow up mighty fast!
