Formula 1

There is more to Hamilton's recent demise, though.
He is leaving in a few weeks. The team have known this for all of the season, so they are focusing the car around what George wants, not Lewis.
Basically Lewis is having to drive George's car. Which is never a good thing, especially for a 7 time champion who is used to having his input in the car's development and the team revolving around him.

I am a MASSIVE Lewis Hamilton fan and refuse to believe he just hasn't quite got it anymore. Next season may tell, or may be a bit soon.

I’m surprised Hamilton hasn’t accidentally crashed into Max to stop him winning another title
He probably would if he was ever anywhere near him these days.

He could have in Brazil as Max started 17th which just goes to show he has a bit more class than Max, but then that's not difficult!

I have more class than Max. And I have no class whatsoever. :D

All true.

Agree he was fortunate in one sense but you have to hand it to him, an incredible drive and overtakes

Yup, whether you loathe him or hate him, you have to admit that was a hell of a drive. Those overtakes in the brakes made the others look like they were trackday drivers.

Charles Leclerc has been hit with a 10-place grid penalty for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix after the Ferrari driver took on a new energy store, a bitter blow to the team's hopes in the constructors' battle with McLaren.

Indeed. Though to be honest that particular battle should have been over last week. Personally I was not impressed by a few of the stewards decisions, during that race weekend.

Well what a fantastic last race...

Max got his comeuppance, Charles had a stormer of a race, Lewis also did well to make up 12 places but Charles gets the driver of the day for me with his 18th to 3rd.

I can't work out why everyone is going laa las over Lewis's overtake on George, he was on medium tyres that were 8 laps newer than George's hards, so George wasn't really going to go full defensive on him with it being his last race for Merc.

Pleased for McLearn seeing as what 4 years ago the were stone last and somewhat off the pace. I hope that continue this into next year and they Red Bull, Ferrari put on a good show for us all.

Yes, it was a great way to end what has been a far more unpredictable season than usual with multiple different winners in different cars.

I just hope we get more of the same next year!

We are likely to see a close competition among Red Bull, Ferrari and McLaren in 2025 and you can put Mercedes in the mix as well who can be a surprise package in the upcoming season.

Well the bones of the good first race is.....

Norris- held it together well.

Max- didn't really have the car underneath him.

Ferrari- still the same, but Lewis thought it was going to be different. CL "My seat is soaking with water"? Engineer" Yup, that'll be the water"!!!

Kimi (not that one but the new child one) what a first race and held his cool, but the penalty was kick in the bollocks!

Pastry- what great pass on Lewis!

Albon- great race, lets hope Williams keep it going.

Russell's just kept it going and did well.

The rich spoilt kid got lucky.

The rookies made it interesting and were just rookies.

Not much to disagree with there, but after a review Kimi Antonelli's 5 second penalty got cancelled.

So he was definitely the best of the rookies and driver of the day for me. That puts Mercedes level on points with McLaren.

If the rest of the season is as unpredictable 2025 will be great!

Yeah I agree pretty much with everything above. I hope LL pulls his finger out, not a great start and the pressure will already be ramping up for him.
Antonelli put a great move on Albon for P4, very ballsy. As was Piastris on Hamilton.

Not a fan of Albert Park, great to watch the cars going flat out, but very few good overtaking spots.

But a great season awaits I think....

It is a very good start to the season but to make it even more interesting and exciting I want Ferrarti to win at least 1 of the next 2 races.

Although Lewis won the Sprint race in China, and Ferrari would have more points now if they hadn't managed to get both cars disqualified from the main race!

So far it is proving as unpredictable as last season with such small margins between most of the grid - I hope it continues like that.
