For Sale: **SOLD** BMW Z4 hard top

For sale is my BMW Z4 hard top in Sterling Grey (altough can easily be resrayed) presented in excellent condition. I purchased this new from BMW in winter of 07 for £1800.

It is in excellent condition, there are two very minor stone marks (less than 2 mm across and not visible from more than 1ft away).

Included in the sale is:
The hard top
Original BMW leather lined bag
All original trim parts to hide fixing points when in use
Original BMW manual and literature

These hard tops are not just great for winter and protecting the soft top, but also for additional security when leaving your pride and joy unattended for extended periods (eg airports). I found it also reduced the road noise and made the car far more enjoyable in the winter.

When not in use this hard top has been stored in a dry garage in the original bag.

Grab a bargain, I paid £1800, only asking £995!

Only selling as I have sold the car. Any questions please ask. Pickup only from Cambridgeshire.

Thanks

Wow, that is a great price & the hard top is my color! As many of us have posted on the forum, "the best deals are always across the pond"...I would have immediately jumped on this sale, only if you were in California....

Good luck with the sale...

Thanks for the replies.

Dammit, if you'd had a sapphire black one I'd have had it! :)

Good luck with your sale.

Thanks HEADRAT - these can be easily resprayed - and the sapphire black ones seem to attract a premium? Maybe a repspray is a way forward?

very tempted but cant afford it :(

Guys, this is an opportunity to take advantage of my laziness. I should have mentioned that I sold my Z4 11 months ago and this has remained in (safe, dry) storage since then. These hard tops attract a significant premium in the autumn months and I have priced mine accordingly. I believe you wont find a better, lower mileage example.

I paid £1800 for this and never regretted one penny of it. My main reason for purchase of the hard top was security as I did a lot of international travel and leaving at the airport with a hard top on made me much happier.

I too wish I was in California!!!

Thanks for looking guys.

Yeah I had thought about it, hopefully somebody will snap it up, I was hoping to get one a bit cheaper by buying in the summer.

I ended up having to get a grey hardtop resprayed black, which cost a good bit more than I was hoping but the hardtop itself was cheap enough.

I'm sure there will be more interest in this hardtop as there hasn't been many on ebay recently but I'm not sure on the price, if I sold mine for the same amount I'd get my money back from what I've spent on it. If I ever sell it, it would be in Nov/Dec and I'd probably make a profit (not planning on selling it though)

Thanks for this info Herminator, do you mind sharing how much it cost you to respray? It seems like a good opporunity as myself and HEADRAT can only be a matter of mins away from each other.

Thanks

Different one to mine, different colour and the other side of the country.

OK - then for Sterling Grey I think you may need to haggle for a Spring/Summer sale. I purchased a Sterling Grey, 1 owner, unmarked, complete with bag, BMW receipt, covers, tools and instructions, for £800 in Autumn.

Respraying would be about £200

Thanks for the info cj10jeeper - I will see how I get on, as I have had some interest from the other ads placed and am in no rush to sell. But am happy to listen to offers.

Good luck selling. As with all things if you have the space to store, happy to wait and a quality top, it will always achieve a sensible price. I purchased mine as the owner was selling his Z4 and it would have been left on a garage floor and new car outside. Cost me a 350 mile trip though...lol

Ah what you've sold your car now mate?
Mmmm dont spose you have some old parts laying about or better still some of your write ups on how to do stuff like say Angel eyes in headlamps etc?

Good luck with the sale mate, i have HardTop and its quality!!!

Well like I said, let me get settled into the UK after September and I'll probably take it off your hands :D

Sorry, no bits really to offer - other than a stone chip colour stick (which has never been used) and can be included in the sale of the hard top for free and soft top cleaner. It was a sad day when the car had to go, I needed at least another seat for my new baby!!

Didnt realise you were actually moving to the UK in September - if it is still for sale, its yours, however you will understand if i continue to advettise it in the meantime! Good luck with your move.

That's fine if you happen to sell it. There will be more :D I'd have to find a garage/place for the car first.

Morning all,

It seems there is a much bigger market for the Black Sapphire tops than there is Sterling Grey - hence the marginally inflated prices for them (I guess).

Therefore I am willing to split the cost of any required respray with the buyer. I.E. I will knock £100 off the asking price and reduce this to £895. This is great news if you need one in Sapphire Black and just as good news if you need a Sterling Grey version.

As mentioned earlier guys, take advantge of my laziness by not advertising this for sale in the autumn / winter. I paid £1800 for this from BMW just over 2 years ago and never regretted one penny of it.
