Folding Door mirrors

Hi. I have a 2016 E89 with push button to retract mirrors.
Is it possible to code them to retract when I switch the ignition off?

If it is which is the best machine to code this function?
Thanks
Geoff

I don't know how to do the coding, but just for reassurance, my 2013 28i folds the mirrors in when I lock the car. Just occasionally it doesn't, and they then fold when I unlock the car! If this happens, just press the mirror fold button on the door armrest and all is back to normal.

It’s possible to code them to fold on locking when holding the key fob down either on single press or held for something like 3 seconds and/or 5 seconds.
I used NCS Expert to do mine but I believe it can be done with certain hand held scanners.

There is no coding option to fold the mirrors on engine stop, not unless you want to design something yourself.

The options that are possible.....

Most of the apps will activate "Fold on Lock", by default this is a long press of the lock button. There are no options to make it an instant lock via the apps.

Alternatively you can have this fold option on instant press of the lock button by fitting a SmartTop module for the roof, obviously you then get all the features of the module for roof control, but not cheap.

You can code it via NCSExpert, the standard is a long press or with a bit of extra coding you can sort it so that it's an instant press of the button. This is the option I've gone for with my Powerfold retrofit I did last year and it works great*

* Except for this...

Yeah I have this occasionally as well, no idea why. :?

Thanks all. After re reading my post I did mean when I locked the doors via the keyfob.
So the consensus is that it can be done via the NCS Expert. I had read that you can do this via the Bimmercode?
Sorry for my ignorance but can I buy it or is this a dealer trip?
Thanks Geoff

I bought mine from eBay as a package, which was fortunate as the cable supplied was faulty, the seller remotely connected to my laptop top to check all the software was installed correctly before confirming the lead was duff, the software can seem a little intimidating to install and use but there are plenty of YouTube tutorials to follow, you can buy the lead separately and get the software for free from certain sites but I thought it safer and easier to get it all from one place.
I can’t find the seller now as I’ve had mine about 4 years and used it several times for diagnostics and coding.
Here’s a link to a similar package, unfortunately this one is from Germany but you will get the idea.

Here's the video I saw when I retrofitted my mirrors and used this information to code them...

and here, in my part 2 cruise control how-to, I link the software...

That is a £20 cable and free software!! That software is available in quite a few places for nothing, it should not be repackaged and sold.

I did mention in my post that the software was available for free, for me it was easier to simply buy it, I think about £45 at the time, I’m sure Geoff would be very grateful if you could supply with him links as to where he can get it for free.

I've done it in both NCSExpert and Bimmercode. In Bimmercode, I had to use the expert mode.

Hi.
I went down the root of the Bimmercode and you are right about the Expert mode. I changed it the non expert mode and nothing happened even though it showed active.
What is the code in the expert mode I need to change?
Thanks
Geoff
PS I managed to activate the digital speed reading though.

I'm thinking I should make a tutorial using Bimmercode to code windows, folding mirrors and convertible top down.. Since, I believe some people have some unfounded fears about coding with Bimmercode.

I have sent you a PM when it finally goes out of my outbox.

Using Bimmercode in expert mode this worked for me.

Fold on Lock Mirrors

FORTSCLIESSUNG_FB AND KOMFORTOEFFNUNG_FB to aktiv
CAS : FH_KOMFORTF_MIT_SUBST

Coding in CAS:
KOMFORTOEFFNUNG_FB = aktiv
KOMFORTSCHLIESSUNG_FB = aktiv

Coding in FRM:
SPIEGEL_KOMFORT_EINKLAPP=aktiv
SPIEGEL_EINKLAPPEN=aktiv

Coding in CTM:
KOMF_OEFFNEN_FBD_Z_E89=aktiv
KOMF_SCHLIESS_FBD_E89=aktiv
