Fitted my ZHP Gearknob today.....wow!

I fitted my ZHP gearknob today which I bought from Sopers BMW on recommedation on here for £44 delivered.

I wanted one as I wasnt happy with the gear change on my Z4 Coupe, all I can say is wow!!!

Much much nicer gearchange, more positive and smoother. Also superb quality and feels nicer. I know it seems pricey for what it is but I much prefer how the car drives now. Now to decide whether to do the CDV mod or not.......

It's a lovely knob!! Old one came off after a good yank in second gear, no dramas or injuries

The one thing i disliek about my 3.0si is the gear lever. Rubbish.

Could you clarify what you actually have to askt he dealer for to get this.

Just ask for the Z4 ZHP Gear Knob. If you ring Jamie at BMW Sopers in Lincoln, mention this forum, he'll send you one for about £44 including VAT and postage.

It is not illuminated but most people don't bother because they know exactly where the gear stick is.

I went for the current performance knob instead. Aluminium/alcantara plus a bit shorter and heavier than the ZHP, not for everyone but suits my other interior mods. It makes the shift feel like the Caterham. The standard shifter in the Z is terrible, you don't realise just how bad until you remove the thing and realise there is no weight to it what so ever.
