I have fitted a HID kit from carmodshop
https://www.carmodshop.co.uk/product/35w-h10-gas-discharge-xenon-hid-conversion-kit-set-budget-canbus-pro-error-free/

and also led sides
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LED-CAR-BULBS-W5W-T10-501-LIGHT-SIDE-CANBUS-ERROR-FREE-SMD-WEDGE-INTERIOR-LAMP/283521812779?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&var=584723258631&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649

I have a dash warning light and also the indicator lights (both sides) are powered when the sides are turned on but when the headlights are powered the indicators are not. I checked for errors using Carista and Torque software, both didn't report an error code.

Whilst I was fitting the hid kit I had to move the car (women!) I had already taken one oem bulb out so the warning light was lit on the dash.

I haven't had chance to look at it due to the damm rain. I am thinking that if I go through a process of elimination by firstly swapping the side bulbs back to oem and hope this clears the warning light. If it doesn't connect the oem headlight bulbs and see if this clears the warning light.

Or do I need something like Carly to clear the warning light or code out the check?

Any advice, words of wisdom will be much appreciated.

I’ve got hids and cheap canbus leds from ebay - no errors here. Probably worth swapping sides and H7s with oems to see which ones are causing the errors.

Honestly I had real issues with my ebay hid kit. It worked fine for a bit but then one side would occasionally not come on for a journey and I'd have a bulb error. Then after a while it totally stopped working! But I got issues both aide

Basically car does not like HID kits. Sadly. I have had to go to h7 normal ones again for now :(

Mine was fine with the HID kit but the LED sidelights needed a canbus resistor. It’s worth isolating the issue between the 2 updated bulb types.

cheers for the replies fellas. Nice and sunny tomorrow so I'm going to swap out the bulbs for the oem's, if that clears the warning light i'll then put the hids in first and see if that sets of the warning light, if not then the sides...fingers crossed!
If not its carly time as 1000rr advised.

Was going to have a look at this yesterday but found the battery dead, so spent yesterday charging the battery.
Connected the battery this morning and found the led sidelights were just about lit when they were not switched on, obviously this is what had drained the battery. Swapped to the oem sides and low and behold the dash warning light goes out...success!

Don't buy the the led sides in my first post, they are bright but rubbish. The Hid kit itself is really good, very sharp light definition and a million times more light than the oem candle power! Should've done this yrs ago.

Did you manage to install the ballast and wiring all inside the headlight unit Davs?
Yes, tight squeeze...my left hand is cut to ribbons! Use body trim tape to stick the ballast and canbus to the inside of the headlight unit, checked it over when I changed the sidelights back to oem and it was properly stuck, zero chance that is going to come unstuck!

Hi Davz

You can either replace the LEDs or get a canbus resistor. I went the ‘expensive’ route and have Philips LEDs and Philips resistors.

Thanks Davs. That's good to know it can all be crammed in there.
I think I am going to go for HID low beams in the projectors and LED highs. I don't use the high beams much. At least the LEDs will be a colour match to the HIDs and also turn on instantly.
