Still smiling from the suggestion that an Audi TT is a pulling machine

dr_john said:this is a bit of a myth about americans and cars. i lived in the states for several years and most of my american buddies wouldn't have given a toss about the cars they drove as long as they got them to where they wanted to go.

I don't think this is true of all women - I have worked hard to ensure my own financial security. A lot of chat here about women who may be interested in what the guy has financially/professionally but it works both ways too. I don't want someone to be with me just because of my profession/salary etc so I guess taking a nice car on a date is a concern for me too.

I've worked around many ladies in prof. offices over the last few years, and have found that many of the "gold digging" types (as I perceive them), upon meeting a new guy, are overly interested in what a guy drives, what neighborhood he lives in, whether he's a doctor, barrister, etc. They seem much less interested in his age, character,
I can attest to that, I've no problem finding good looking females to go out with that are at least 20 years younger than myself, the trouble is most already know what car I drive because our village is a hot-bed of gossip,
There do seem to be a never-ending stream of what I also call "gold diggers" that are only looking for security and a comfortable life, I'm sure if I drove an old banger etc I wouldn't get a look in with a lot of them.
I was at a funeral reception a few month's ago and this lady I new (June) was sitting next to and talking to this good looking female (late 30's) who kept giving me the 'stare' and smiling I said to my daughter "looks like I've clicked there" and she said "yes you probably have after June's told her how affluent you are" so I said "nothing to do with my rakish charm then" when I was on my own for a few minutes she came up to me and introduced herself-and we had a good couple of month's after that.
The biggest problem I find is when you let them stay over for a weekend they seem to think that's a prelude to moving in!!!!.
KeithJ said:Well as a guy who has been on a few first dates I can give you an idea of this...
2-3 girls after introducing the car will get in the car, say its nice and that's about it. By that stage I knew there was no spark though, the Z4 wasn't going to miraculously make up for that.
1-2 girls liked the car more than me and therefore just wanted me for materialistic views. It's funny they would text back and were seductive.
1 girl who I currently just had my third date with, we both walked out of the bar on the first date. I asked what car was hers and she looked rather sheepish. I pointed out a Kia and she then said no and pointed to a white Audi TT. I called her a poser bitch... Then I had to point out my Z4. If anything it backed up my story I had ambition and drive to get the best out of life. I think more importantly it shows that maybe you both have a passion for nice cars.
I get quite a few smiles from girls in my car but I am at traffic lights, I have no way to take advantage of that. Is my car a fanny magnet? Well it's attracted a 2 girls and I am convinced its came in to their thinking however are those girls right for me? No! I am just looking for a nice girl who likes my car but likes me more importantly. If they want a nice car then they can go and work for one like I did...

Much much more than any Z4 in any guise.

Anyone relying on a car to pull women is off to a very bad start.

You really really don't like the TT do you or understand why someone would buy one, but they do and do so in numbers that BMW can only dream about for the Zed. Does that make it a better car, in some way yes and in others no, it just depends on what you want from the car.
