First aid box under drivers seat

At the risk of asking a really dumb question....

How do I know whether I have a bracket fitted on the drivers side. I have M sport seats and a first aid box under the passenger seat but I cannot see where the box is screwed into the seat bracket. I have around an inch width of plastic at the front of both the seats - above the box on the passenger side and nothing below the box is that the bracket ?

I have thought about putting the first aid kit under my seats and decided I would loose to much room.

As was mentioned on here it's amazing to think it isn't required on USA cars. Then again neither are warning triangles!!

ok - to be honest I hardly ever see anyone in the UK using a triangle.. but I think they are more popular n mainland europe...

Can anyone help with the answer to my question about the bracket ?

thanks

I have a 2007 2.5i Sport, with the leather M sport seats, I have looked under the passenger seat with a mirror and torch, and I cannot see how my First Aid box is secured. I do want to fit one under the drivers seat though. can someone help me locate the fasteners please.
thanks

I have the M seats and they do fit on them fine, drivers and passengers, the bolt holes are near the front, it makes more sense when you have the box in your hand as you can see exactly where they go.

You need the bracket that screws to the underside of the seat onto which the box then slides, locates and locks. It's very simple to do and I have them on both sides of ///M seats too.

Without taking the passenger side off I don't imagine for one moment that you can see the fitting, but as Rusty says with the new set up to hand it should be obvious

Thank you for that, now it makes sense, I will order from the contact already mentioned on here, box & bracket, and it will be easy to fit.

Hi all, Any chance one of you guys have a spare set of screws you use to fit the bracket, all im after is a picture against a ruler so that i can get an idea of the size/width so that i can get a set from B and Q.

I got a bracket from the stealers but it came without screws, i asked about the missing screws and the parts man said it would be a case of finding something that "best fits", so im not holding out on them coming up with anything suitable...

Thanks

T4NG, if you could bear with me, I'm collecting the screws from my dealer on Thursday. I'll post a pic and some dimensions on here for you.

Alternatively, I'll give you the part number if you'd prefer. They're a huge 19p each I was told, so cheaper than they'd be from B&Q where you'll have to buy a pack of 100..!!

I wanted to do this upgrade but was told the same by the dealer which put me off. Actually he said the screws are already part of the seat but I can't see them anywhere.

Voodoo: Do you have a part number for the screws you are getting ? Can you ask for one, please ?

Ok, here's the part number for the screws for bracket to seat fitting. Info courtesy of Dave in Parts at BMW Ashford, Kent (top bloke)

72 12 8 235 266.

The were 19p each and are torx head. They look a bit like fat self tappers without the pointy bit and have a rather course thread.

Hope that helps.

Hey Voodoo, thanks for the info. I went into dealers yesterday to collect my empty first aid box and a different parts guy worked out that that the screws came separate and managed to find the part numbers. Charged me 22p each though....aren't things meant to be cheaper up'north :o

Oh yeah dealer actually gave me 2 brackets by mistake, so i have 1 spare. if anyone wants, give me a shout and they can have for cost of postage. :D You'll have to supply your own screws though :P

Just ordered a tray for my drivers side.

I bought the kit with a first aid pack in it, and it came fully complete. Ie, box, mouting bracket, screws, and first aid pack.

52109164602 £26.04 + vat

I didn't think it was that bad, since it comes with the bracket which is £4.05 + vat, and then an empty box must cost about £10, so the first aid kit is handy to have renewed (or just use the old ones in your house etc?!)

Cheers

Dave

bought a first aid box on e-bay a tenner, got the screws etc, from my local bmw dealers about 8 quidish, and fitted it myself in ten mins, and i don't do alot of this sort of thing, so if i can anyone can...

Should all be there :)

I got mine fitted, those three self-tapper screws are a pain to get going, you want a star drive on a ratchet ideally, rather than the key type. Seat them right in, then remove, then fit the cradle/mount.

I realised upon removing my old first aid kit lots of stuff ran out in 09/10 (apparently), so it's nice to have a new one in there should I need any of it, and the old stuff that could be kept just went into the household tin.

And my old tray is currently being rubberised/felted inside so it's nice and soft for my sunglasses etc :)

A mod well worth doing for that bit of extra storage space :D
