Hi team :D
I have a little Fire Extinguisher (1Kgs) but i don't know how to attach it easily in trunk  Do you have any idea ?

I'm afraid I cannot help with fitting, but I would question exactly how useful it would be back there anyway?
Takes a while to get out and fetch it.
Also, if you do place it there, bear in mind it needs to be accessible when the roof is down too, which kind of limits you to fitting it at the very rear edge. Once that is in place you won't be able to get at anything else in there until the roof goes up.

Sorry to be so negative.

Right... when roof is down in trunk, it won't be easy to get the fir eExtinguisher. :?

I think you'll find it difficult yes.
If you are set on doing it then I would suggest put the roof down and see what access you have left.

Not sure how older models are structured, but I know my zed has a little shelf behind the seats. It strikes me that if you could come up with a suitable attachment method it would be a wonderful place to keep an extinguisher. No interference with the top, easy access, not a place that is otherwise as useful as trunk space, etc.

Now Im thinking about doing the same, lol.

You have to be very very careful if you place the extinguisher in the cabin..bearing in mind, in the event of a bad prang you can have 30G on parts..your 1kg fire extinguisher with bottle will be around 2kg x 30 = 60kg!!! :tumbleweed:

Needs one hell of a mounting to restrain that on the back luggage shelf

I got one, keep it behind the drivers seat along with cheap car cover.
I have had two cars catch fire, first was TR7, cabin filled with smoke in about 10 seconds.
Next was a Ford starter motor, shorted and caught fire.
Had aircraft catch fire after landing, used extinguisher on that.
Last was battery charger decided to go nuclear, FE sorted that.

I now have one in my flat as the communal one's have all been removed, on the advice of the fire service, yet i have had to phone the FS twice for smoke from other flats. So we let the whole place burn down for the sake of a FE.

Great point... perhaps not the way to go.

Though if there are 30g on parts, I think you may have bigger issues at that point... whats 30g do to a human body?

30g is usually regarded as the limit before serious damage is done to a human body..as ususal that's not a simple situation..

The point which I think you saw was it would be a pisser to survive a massive crash simply to be then wiped out by a missile apparently weighing 60kgs ..

My Dad was involved in a serious head on crash with a lorry (wrong side of road overtaking another lorry)..he had a large bag of tomatoes in the cabin which had then splattered the entire inside of said cabin..

He looked like he had been in a war..in this case it was just crushed tomatoes.

[ref]Pbondar[/ref], Im glad your father was OK! Head on accidents are no joke at nearly any speed. And yes, your point was well taken.

Between the seats on the back wall is arguably the best place for it, if it’s strapped to the front of the passenger seat at floor level for eg, and you have a front prang you might not get to it, the space between the seats is the least furthest away from any crushing, however as said it would need strapping down very securely. I’d suggest either drilling into the roll hoops bars halfway up from the long thin shelf to attach a proper extinguisher holder with a flip over clasp or a pair of thick webbing straps to attach a proper holder too.

Phil I’ve just had a quick look as you reminded me I need one too for the boat. The one you posted is £6.99....!! The one I’m posting is only £26 with a cage and strap. I wouldn’t cheap out on an extinguisher disguised as a missile if I were you fella, £26 isn’t hurting anyone’s wallet for this type of thing let’s be right.

Much better, but it would still all hinge on the security of the fasteners holding the cage to the bodywork. Ideally bolts with big washers and nuts on the back if you can get access. Don't think self-tappers would be sufficient.

No you can’t get to the back of the hoops enuff unless you drill right through into the boot, then you could nyloc nut and bolt it. Those roll hoops will be pretty thick steel though, remember how much load they’ll have been designed to take, I’d guess at 5 times the cars weight roughly..? Plenty thick enough to take a decent self tapper. In fact the limiting factor there would be the size of the eyes in the extinguisher cage, a tapper the same diameter as the eyes and the bottle strapped to the cage like that isn’t going anywhere.

Possibly, but I wouldn't want it to be the back of MY head that tested the theory of the self-tappers holding.

So you survive the crash, quench the inferno, then get beaten to death by an irate wife?

To be fair, my ex Mrs wouldn’t have needed a fire extinguisher in the mix for that scenario :o
