So you survive the crash, quench the inferno, then get beaten to death by an irate wife?

To be fair, my ex Mrs wouldn’t have needed a fire extinguisher in the mix for that scenario :o

So was she always pissed or always pissed a lot Andy....?

Always pissed, but seemingly just at me

Aw well you live and learn

You were married to my ex also?!

Sounds like it :o

the big bonus for me is new partner is so much the opposite, easygoing and chilled. Huge bonus ball is she loves the Zed and wants to do as many car things as possible, including spending money on it

Awesome! I also got an upgrade. Though she only tolerates spending money on the zed, lmao.

DONT put it in the cabin, the first thing you do when your car catches fire is get out, you dont want to be hanging around to unclip an extinguisher.... You can buy built in under bonnet systems that operate without opening the bonnet...

Have a link to what you are referring to by chance?

This is a simple and effective system, the extinguisher is mounted under the bonnet and the release valve is kept closed by inert gas pressure inside tubing routed around the engine bay. If a fire occurs, the tubing melts, gas is released and the extinguisher activates..

The only time I've actually used a fire extinguisher in a car wasn't in the engine bay, but on the head lining in the cabin.

Driving down a narrow country lane in Devon, I came across a Renault with its doors open, smoke issuing forth, but nobody in sight. So I grabbed my extinguisher, identified the source of the smoke - the aforesaid head lining near the back window - and gave it the full contents. This seemed to do the job.

Still nobody appeared, so I put my now empty £28 extinguisher on the roof of the Renault and continued on my way.

[ref]mcbutler[/ref], thanks for the link. Thats not really what Im looking for, though. For one I want to be able to use it on OTHER things I come across as well. Similar to [ref]Busterboo[/ref], I've only wanted an extinguisher (up to now, knock on wood) twice... once was an an autocross event in the arizona summer when a car went off the track and the catalytic converter lit the dry grass on fire in seconds... the second was an abandoned car on the highway that was on fire.

Granted the second one was probably far too gone for an extinguisher to matter, but illustrates the point nicely anyway.
