Finally – Cruise Control

Really enjoying the cruise, although I was a bit of a numpty today:

Leaving the M6 and joining the M58 today we were rapidly catching up to a traffic cop travelling at about 65 in the middle lane, so thought perfect opportunity to engage the cruise at 70 and glide past. As I got closer I set the cruise at 70 but nothing happen - I tried again, then realised I was using the indicator stalk by mistake - my side lights were on so basically I'd just flashed him twice :slaphead:

I had my story ready: sorry officer -new cruise control next to indicator stalk  We passed him without being pulled :heat:

Hehe, we've all been there colin.
My common fault is going for the cruise stalk to pull it back to slow for a dutch muppet whos just overtaken me only to decide to slow down again :headbang: , but i end up flashing him by mistake, which is no inappropriate thing i suppose really. 8)

We need a poll Collin, who has flashed other drivers with their main beam when using the cruise switch
I wonder if a nasty plod could have done you for driving with out care and attention??

I know what you mean about planks overtaking then slowing Chris, WTF is it about. I find it so annoying and least they should get is a flash IMHO :poke:

Yep - you certainly did warn me and I made a mental note too

Although admittedly it's never been infront or in the vicinity of cops... No doubt that'll happen now that I've said it... :police:

Happens to the best of us mate! The e46 set up was on my steering wheel... Better set up in my opinion.

I was convinced I'd be pulled - I was slowly catching him in the middle lane and the Motorway was empty, so it could have been seen as flashing him to move over

The lack of anywhere to put your foot whilst on cruise means I don't use mine. Incredibly uncomfortable to hold foot above the pedal

Not in an auto it's not, we have foot rests to rest our left foot

:? I dont do that - it would defeat the whole reason for the cruise control and make my leg ache again.

From memory there's a place to rest your left foot in a manual e85 as well :?

There certainly is! Shame about the right foot!

Never even thought about this, not sure how but I find somewhere just fine to rest my foot (right foot). Without it hovering in mid-air as granted - this would be uncomfortable.

I find that the greatest value of having cruise control fitted is money saved by avoiding speeding tickets. Set the cruise at just above the posted limit and you are home free. It is SO easy to exceed any limit with these (or any) cars now. It is great that it works at fairly low speeds, as my local town has a 40 KMh limit due to the presence of schools on both of the available routes to town from my home, so they cannot be avoided.

Let me know please - I think maybe as I'm tall at 6'5 that is the cause of my issue!
