Feel divorce imminent

I plan to extend my warranty when the car is 3 years old (in 8 months time), as I guess if something like this happened out-with the warranty it could cost mega-bucks to get fixed.

Ditto!

Really feel for you. it does take the faith and fun out of the car. I have just posted a thread about my first week with my 2735 mile one owner car and to say I'm gutted is an under statement :( It was a toss up between the Z4 and a new shape fully loaded C70 diesel auto and I went for the Z4 as I believed in the brand. I just hope BMW step up to fix mine.

Sorry to hear about your issues Chris Z4, neither sounds right. The dealership have been good as always, i'm just pee'd off that i'm driving every day with a roof above me and not open sky, especially when we've had some great weather and more for the weekend by the looks of it. At the moment it looks like Thursday is the earliest i can expect the car back next week. Guess i'll have to see how i feel when i finally get her back. At the moment i still don't feel like i want her at all; hopefully that will change.

Still no car!
Some parts arrived and roof mechanism being refitted. Some of order not arrived. Perhaps by the end of the week ?!
And what do i see wherever i turn? Sunshine and roofless cars :x

I got a new Z4 loaner when mine went in for rear lights replacement, basic cheap though with cloth interior etc but still a Z

took the tourer back straight away as the key fob was faulty, no matter how close i was to the car or how hard i pressed the button the roof wouldn't activate  :) only thing i can do is try and laugh at the moment. weather is glorious and i can't fully appreciate it :x

At least you're still laughing!

You could always take:

for that open air feeeling...

Inclined to set to with the chainsaw but resharpening is always a pain, also can't find a key from a fish tin big enough to fit to the tourer.
One interesting thing was that, as i handed the zed over to the dealership, i took the last remaining piece of the Roadsterbag luggage set out of the boot, it's a flat case that sits in the trough by the boot lid and is designed to allow the two travel bags to sit completely flat over it.
What's that i was asked by the service manager; i explained about how the luggage set is designed to fit in the boot and allow you to have the roof down.
Wow, he said, why couldn't BMW design something like that?
If only i'd had the presence to reply 'because they can't even design a freakin folding roof that works', 'a twin turbo engine that doesn't go pop' or a 19" rim that doesn't break.
Actually perhaps they should turn to handbags :?

:oldman: is what i'm going to be before i get the car back.
Waiting for a door card to be delivered now.

Just had the tourer swapped over for a 330d m sport 4 door. Looks like middle of next week before i get mine back. Seems to be an issue getting the roof right as well as waiting for the door card. :(

Spot on

Actually quite liking the 330 (apart from a continual urge to rip the roof off), the i-drive is pretty swish, performance good and it's making me regret the choice of a z4.
Just looking at a settlement figure to see if it's practical to sell the Z, not much point in keeping a car i can't drive. It'll be a month since i had it last to drive.

If you like the 330 then the convertible Lexus ISC is worth a look at...

I'm sure it's a great car but just not me somehow, but a good thought thanks.
Just wishing i'd never got rid of my e46 3 series convertible, best car i've had, drove like a dream, like a real car.
Well no use wishing for the past, we'll see what this week brings, hopefully i'll get my zed back and find i enjoy driving again.
