fault power steering malfunction

Hi all,
Had my e89 35si a week now got in it this morning got into it and the above warning came up on the idrive.
Had the codes read by a delphi system came up with permanent fault code A54B?
Anybody had this, any ideas.
Most likely cause perhaps.
Any assistance offered greatfully accepted.

Hi all,
Just a quick update regarding this fault.
I have had to replace the steering rack complete.
To the tune of £1500.00 plus vat and fitting.
Wrote to BMW to complain not interested at all.
I believed this was a manufacturer faulta as the car has a relatively low mileage, although they demanded the car be transport ed with the fault to a stealer. Count afford that too.
