Well, the chaps in Hayes rung true.
Fitted a refurbished ECU which they had to code, and as if by magic, it works. I have done about 500 miles in the car and it's absolutely fine.
So, anyone that digs up this thread, the guys over at BW Chiptune in Hayes can solve your issue, however, as a word of warning, please bottom out the price with them first.
They are really great guys, but were not forth coming with the sheer amount of additional things they'd be adding to the 495+VAT price for a refurbed ECU. I left with a little bit of a sour taste due to things on the bill such as coding, diagnostics, testing etc.
Whilst I can understand these have to be done, the way the price was given to me implied that the cost of the refurbed ECU unit was 495+VAT.
So yeah, she's back and looking blooming marvellous even if I do say so myself.
