Fallen window

I went over a pot hole last weekend and the rear of my drivers window came loose. reading through the posts now it looks like it was probably getting loose for a while and i should have tightened the screw. However, a day or so later the front came out as well and the window is now totally loose. I took the door card off and could see that the the regulator brackets were still moving up and down within the door but the window was not attached to it. I phoned my local dealer and they said they could put the window back in for about 30-45 mins work so it be about £70-£90. I couldn't see how to get the window back in easily so thought i would let them do it. However, they phoned me and said the regulator needs replacing too and the total would be £383. I thought this was a bit steep so went to collect my car and said i would shop around. He charged me £40 for diagnosing the problem and my driver's door has acquired quite a few scratches that i'm pretty sure weren;'t there before but i have no way of prooving that they were done there.

They gave me back a couple of broken parts, which look to be part numbers 10 & 11 from this diagram.

The plastic is snapped and they say he regulator needs to be changed as well. Could this be the case as i don't really trust them? I had the car in last year for some work and when it came back i thought it had gained a couple of scratches and they said the rear tyres needed changing and my thermostat was leaking. I didn't have the work done as i didn't believe it needed doing. This time i was told the rear tyres were ok but gettign low and that there were no leaks or anything else to worry about so i think they were trying to drum up a bit of work last year. It was only a £90 job last year so i think they fancied a bit more but they'll be content with £400 out of me for this job. I think i'm gonna tackle the job myself as don't have much confidence in my local dealer anymore.

So, really what i'm asking is if parts 10 & 11 are broken with the plastic snapped is it likely that the regulator would need to be changed as well? Or can i just change the bracket?

Thanks

I would say if the regulator still operated and everything just went loose because of parts 10 and 11...then just order and fit those parts. You have nothinbg to loose and about £350+ to gain.

UPDATE

Well, I took the door apart today and as I suspected the regulator was totally fine. All that had happened was the Torx screw holding the window onto the regulator had worked loose and finally come free causing the window to come off at the back and also popped off at the front. It all went back on easily and the window works fine. Parts 10 & 11 in the picture hav a plastic bit to the lower edge that was broken but it all went back in fine. It looks like it might be a guide for the edge of the window to aid in assembly but seeing as there is a circular lip that fits into the hole in the window it doesnt really seem essential? Someone else might know?

So worse case I needed a new sliding piece and supporting plate which was £16 plus approx £70 to put it all back together. BMW wanted £423 which included the £40 they charged to tell me a pack of lies. Disgusting rip off behaviour.

BMW have a strict "replace all parts" policy IMO. Fine if repairs are under warranty. However, actually repairing parts, or fixing things, and they are not so good . The one time a BMW dealership did some wiring for me, they used all brown cables and made a shoddy job of covering the wires with messy electrical tape. Of course this is only my experience.... I'm sure there are some good news stories out there
