Just wonderd if anyone with a 2006+ facelift has ditched the run flats. I hear they changed the suspension slightly for the facelift. Will putting non rfts on be a bad things? I am getting falken 452s fitted on friday you see? Mine is a 3.0si 2006

Thanks

Whole bunches of us have - do a search on RFTs.

Every post I have seen so far (and my own experience as well) is that car handles far better without them.

I found the run-flats to be intolerable on my 2008 3.0si roadster, at least on the post-apocalyptic roads around Chicago. I replaced them with standard tires (Bridgestone RE960 potenza A/S) after only 150 miles, and the improvement in ride quality was stunning.

The biggest problem with non-RFT on post facelift US cars is we have the in-tire pressure sensors. You definitely don't want to spray fix-a-flat in there on them.

i'm sure this isn't true, the car knows a tyre is flat via the difference in rotational speed that a loss of pressure brings between the wheels left and right - not physical pressure

Mine went on today Falken 452's, to early for me to give a report but so many forum members have the Falkens they must be good.

I had over 5mm left on my front Runflats, but the cost of four Falkens @ £425 (May not be cheapest but had them fitted where I wanted) fitted was cheaper than just two rear RFT's

That is true for pre-facelift Z4s and non-US post-facelift ones. Believe me, I have the sensors IN the tires.

According to TireRack, it's a Beru sensor.

Yup, they are super expensive and not anywhere near the best performing. But of course, if you are driving the car out of town and you get a flat, you might wish you had them. :)

But my Z4 never leaves town, and I have a spare, so no need for them.

Must be different in the UK then, my facelift doesn't have them and checking the owners manual it says the same as i thought. I wonder why they changed it for you guys?
