F1 champ thread

I don’t remember being this emotional when Hamilton won

Must be getting soft in my old age

Sigh. I knew if I looked at anything on the Internet something would inevitably spoil the result before I get a chance to watch it on C4 later. Shame really, all other f1 content is in the obvious f1 2025 threads, but no, the biggest spoiler of the year, right there in the thread title...

Lesson learnt for next year I guess.

I'm sure Max regrets losing his head in Spain, only 2 points in the end
Not really, Piastri would have dropped back to third to allow Norris to gain second. This season proved that all the rest, including Ferrari and Mercedes were no match for Verstappen and McLaren.

S**t sorry Brillo, honestly, I should have put F1 champ only. Sorry, my bad. 😔

Why? I've been on here a while now and it was pretty obvious someone would post about it.
With all our 'anti-social media' shite these days we should know you have to completely switch off if you don't want to hear about something.
That's what I try to do with Christmas, but now it starts just after Easter it's nigh on impossible!

The points max lost in Spain would have been enough to secure him the championship, even if Mclaren did swap Norris into 2nd today

But then both McLarens lost points recently too. That’s rather the whole point

All hindsight thoughts, if Piastri had not done this and that, he would have won. It is what it is.

I'd say intentionally crashing into a rival in frustration and then losing points through a subsequent penalty is a bit different to the McLarens dropping points through crashes or reliability, which happen in every championship fight. What max did was unnecessary.

I didn't read much into the thread title, in any case it might have been Piastri, but didn't open it yesterday as I had recorded the highlights on C4 to watch today!

I didn't mind who won it just so long as it wasn't Max. Very pleased for Lando, after all it's good to have another British Champion.

Congratulations to Lando, sometimes the good guy does win, didn't win the most races but was pretty consistent all year.

F1 is a team sport first and foremost, if the team screw up the driver has to swallow it and vice versa, and saying if this guy or team had done this then that would have happened etc, etc, if pigs had wings they’d be eagles…it’s how motorsport is. But over this season on pure driving alone, Lando has had McLarens only mechanical DNF and still and up until Las Vegas was a clear race ahead on points, so he’s outperformed Piastri on pure driving alone. Imho he richly deserves the title.

Plus he’s a full on nice guy.

Same here! I only record the highlights of F1 on C4 to watch later in the evening and I saw the original thread title earlier in the afternoon. Cheers John! I purposely didn't have the radio on all day to avoid the result!

I personally think it was a bit of a damp squib.
Norris wasn't the best driver for most of the season, nor was Pastry. Unfortunately, yet again, Verstappen was. If RB had sorted his car earlier he would had walked it.

Maclaren had the best car by miles for most of the season, yet Norris only won by 2 points and Pastry was third. Shows me that neither of them can hold a candle to Verstappen in driving ability (I don't like the dribbling Dutchman but he is an awesome talent).

The fact that Pastry overtook Norris so he finished in third in AD shows he is not even the best driver that Maclaren has. Just that Pastry had a head fart for enough of the season to throw it away.

Sorry but if we are talking about talent, Verstappen is head and shoulders above anyone else in the paddock at the moment and should have won the championship.

When Lewis had the best car he won by a Country mile. So did Verstappen. So did all the great drivers. Norris is not one of them IMO.

He is just another spoiled little rich kid (his father is worth £200,000,000). Lewis wasn't!

Due to the different time zones, I avoided YouTube, the Z4-Forum and the PH homepage until I’d watched the race on Monday evening (Monday morning GMT). I didn’t open any WhatsApp messages from the UK either, just in case.
In my opinion, the best driver won the race, the better man won the driver’s championship and the best team (at the present time) won the constructor’s championship. Oh and the bigger whinger at McLaren dropped the ball!
