F-Type Coupe

I've been lucky enough to be a passenger in both the V6 and V8 F-type, both times with the roof down, and loud button switched to 'on'.

The V6 was ok- not crazy fast and sounded quite nice.

But the V8, with the sound of that engine on overrun and properly brutal acceleration is just unforgettable. Such an incredible experience.
If I had the cash for the V6, I'd not bother and save up for the V8.

They are already dropping in value quite quickly. You might not have to save for too long. Some of the examples below are over £10k below list, before you factor in any extras. One only has 454 miles and it's in a Jag dealer.

I guess all high-price, premium cars depreciate. Well, all but a select few. Cars like the 997 GT3's/GT3RS's just don't seem to follow the normal laws of depreciation. 1M Coupe seems to be another. This seems to be falling really quickly though, like the new M5/M6 are doing. On the quick scan through Pistonheads there was a lot of dealer stock. So they aren't finding it easy to sell everyone they make as they claim. I don't think they got the pricing right and there was(is) a lot of hype. Good car, just the wrong price initially. I bet you could walk into the dealer and secure a pretty hefty discount on a new one.

I think the Coupe has a better chance because it is so much more practical and it's much more keenly priced. You can actually go somewhere in it for the weekend for example, unlike the Roadster. Barmy decision on Jag's part to put it out with a boot that size. I bet you the Mk II Roadster has a bigger boot!!

Agree on the roadster boot space. (Coupe has 407l). It's a really big car illustrated when on tour they quoted its footprint as something like 9% bigger than a 911, so a lot of car.
Hard to work out what took all the space in the back end to give a boot the size of a shallow washing bowl??

One nice fact I missed on first read of the brochure is they have upped power on the V8 from 498 to 550 - nice for pub bragging rights

Is that because it's an R rather than a V8S CJ? It's a little dearer than the V8S Roadster isn't it? But £59k for V6S pitches it nicely in that C63/RS5/M4 market, even though it's a little down on power on them. That £50-60k segment is getting interesting with the Cayman S/Boxster S at the bottom end.

Without doubt. They were very clear about taking the press by surprise, so launching the 'R' on day 1 was their trick. As such it has to differentiate from a V8 S. They've done some other stuff in line with R. Torque ramped up to 680nm and 0-60 down from 4.2 to 4.0. They also added torque vectoring alongside the active diff.

AWD being launched Jan 2015 featuring a more 'aggressive' bonnet. Expected to be in excess of 550bhp.

RS definitely does figure in the launch plan but no info on when.

If you're purchasing cars privately stay away from Jag

A guy in our office has XF. He loves it and never had a problem in 2 years so far. :)

I had more problems with my E89 to fair! :|

Lovely car, just too much $$$... IMHO. They'll depreciate nicely in a couple of years, I'll take another look then ;) Provided I've not loaded myself up with the new Mustang lol

Agree they are way overpriced. I'm keeping an eye open in 2 years time! ;-)

Having said that, it was the same thing I said 2 years ago about the 640D coupe/gran coupe which are nearly half their original price now just two or so years later. But I don't really want one that much now... I think I'll always be a serial car looker but not a serial car buyer... well, not with my plans for retirement now needing full focus. If they think I'm working until I'm nearly dead, they can think again.
