F-Type Coupe

Sorry I was teasing a little CJ with the "preaching to converted" remark. Perhaps an smilie would've conveyed that better

As for the coupe pricing - i think they are bang on the money with it. Just wish they'd equipped it with at least a DCT and then I might have been a buyer.

Pistonheads a few weeks ago mentioned that there was a lot of used roadsters for sale and that prices had dropped because of. As I have always said the F-Type was priced greedily by Jag in the way that the Range Rover brand could always get away with. The F type can't, it has style but nothing else that premium demands.

Interesting point SARs - I think JLR have rethought their branding to try and pull Jaguar up with the Range Rover cachet - about 3 years ago they were working towards Range Rover as a Sub brand even with distinct dealerships the oval was taken off most models. now it's back on all models and the JLR brand is being pushed - I think we will see a lot more joint dealerships over the coming years as the brands are brought closer together.

Evo were suggesting 991's aren't shifting too well - too much of a price hike over the 997. There were stories of less than 12 month old 991s models with <3k mileage being sold for high £60's when they would've cost mid £90's new. That would be highly unusual for 911's. There is certainly a lot of new or very nearly new stock at my local dealer. Not sure how true all of that is though.

Strange that because I was offered just over £71k for my (then) 16 month old circa 3800 mileage 991S, cost new £94k, and that was from Porsche direct, and it was just a straight purchase with no sale involved :)

Oops - sorry if that read wrong. We know each other well enough to never offend :)

Does look awesome, but not much more awesome enough to replace the ZMC even if I had the cash,

.....Let's see hard concrete sales numbers before we get too carried away.
.....

From a friend of a friend who knows some guy who knows a guy who works somewhere that may or may not have access to DVLA registration records.

F-Type S V6 = 271
F-Type S V8 = 136
F-type V6 = 122

UK only obviously. Seems to line up with what is on Howmanyleft which only counts taxed cars rather than registered cars sitting in showrooms and any unsold stock of which there would never be much with such a car (probably only cancelled orders).

I see 76, of which a few are just adverts for cars that don't exist.
Rest are at Jaguar main agents, so I don't see it as unusual as they all register cars as demonstrators and move them on to keep up volumes and turnover, but were prevented from selling for several months from launch.

With 150+ dealers in England/Wales alone that's a thin spread.

We followed a roadster today. It does Look nice, but if I'm honest and a bit biast the Z4 looks better and more modern IMHO. :)

I didn't like the roadster when I had a look at the local jlr boutique. Looks good from some angles but for the price it should look good from all.

I'm also of the opinion that JLRs strategy is a bit iffy. Their chasing the new money and producing some sparkly magpie s**t to do it. One of the f-Types I looked at had gold paddle shifters and other bits on the dash. It was like a Bangkok pimps living room inside. There was also an evoque with the same treatment.

I don't question how good the cars are but it seems they are positioning themselves in a very specific way and almost moving from the reserved sense of luxury and understated British style that they are famous for.
