Extra Bits and Bots in Your Garage

We’re all bit pack rats. Eventually we end up with stuff I don’t even remember how we got it in the first place.

So, what extra Z4 bits and bobs are collecting dust in your garage, and what would it take for you to part with them, or why wouldn’t you ?

Cheers.

Well let’s see, without going in there to check and from memory I have the original chrome kidney grills and the long whippy aerial which makes the car look like a R/C toy  But anyway I am hanging on to them in case the car needs to go back to stock.

[Edit] Almost forgot I’ve also got the original subwoofers with enclosures (not from my car) from when I was upgrading my sound system. I thought I’d somehow be able to use them but in the end I went down a different route. These I am willing to let go for cost if anyone wants them.

Set of Bilstein B6's. Still feel good. The two rears though extend at different rates when pushed in.
Actually rear damper makes a good way applying force to brake pedal when bleeding brakes.
Couple of original side indicators.

Started now.
Few old coils as back up, couple of vanos solenoids.
Good battery. Old hid bulbs as spares.
Old number plate lights, cleaned up as new, so the new i bought to fit were a waste.
Couple of solenoids on fuse board and engine bay electrics, keep as spares.

I've got a full set of wheels bolts and locking bolt (and key). A virtually new set of OEM front brake pads for an E89 N20. Several brake pad wear sensors, some new some used.
I also have a set of side repeater indicators for a 2008 E92 (Alpina). Also have a knackered bootlid badge for the same.
Got a set of kidney grilles for an F33. Also got a perfect rear diffuser for an F3X (dual outlet in Mineral Grey). And a damaged aftermarket rear diffuser for the same.
And about 20 BMW wheels centre badges, all used and not in good nick!

Oh yeah, I've got loads of number plates; some more legal than others!

my main difficulty is getting rid of the stuff... the council round here hardly ever take the damn bins any more so they're always full, and apparently you still need a booking to just go to the tip, for some reason.

anyways, pretty sure i've got old kidney grilles, a brake disc for something, an old wheel which has a crack in it, and a few other bits and bobs kicking around.

Similar to most - a whippy aerial
A brand new brake pad wear sensor as the old one didn't break getting it off
The original number plates - now on a personalised plate
The old angel eye bulbs, as I've recently changed to LEDs'
Finally, the carry case for the wind deflector, I've never taken it off once it was fitted.

Under which circumstances and how often does a car ‘need’ to go back to stock ?

I have a spare steering wheel, the one I’ve used temporarily whilst mine was with Control Custom. It’s in bad condition, but works well as a temporary mule. It’s free. You just pay postage.

OEM wheel hubs, heated seats control panel, 3rd brake light, spare trunk seals, rear 19" 296, pre-lci side repeaters

I have a set of E89 wheels for half the year, but they are on my E90 at the moment so I've got a set of E90 wheels with Winter tyres in there.

Far too many E86 parts stashed to list. :D

‘Mr Tidy’ is pure sarcasm, right ?

I didn't choose it!

It goes back to the 80s/90s when my mate was oval racing and one of the other drivers came up with it. They were pretty scruffy buggers.

If I sold the car and the new owner wishes to keep it stock, then the bits are there to do that. I forgot to mention I also have the original white blob wing / fender indicators and some dash and centre console trims (not from my car) which I keep meaning to skin in forged carbon fibre and also have a new switch control panel for the roof / heated seats parking sensors etc which I need to fit in mine since the icons on the buttons in mine are wearing off!

Please indulge me. Same hypotheticals. How often it happens that a prospective buyer is looking at your car as-is, and says, ‘I love it, except I don’t want to spend a few hundred quid to revert it to original.’?

Spare driver window glass
Original mirror caps
Spare boot seal

Spare bulbs
