Programming extra key

Hi, hoping someone can help please.

Car came with 1 key which only worked to open door manually and start car. I bought a new key from BMW which they set up and that works fine to unlock with remote and start car.

I’ve since replaced battery in original key. Went through the 5 click to position 1 sequence then long press of unlock with pressing lock 3 x and then release. That programs the old key to work as remote and start car but then it stops the new key working as remote. Seems I can only have 1 that works as a remote at a time? Any ideas please?

I confess I'm not sure of the exact process, but I believe I read somewhere that you have to program both keys together, one straight after the other?
