Dumping extra speakers in the 6 system

Hi guys, i've upgraded the speakers in my 05 zed. But i need some low end bass, I don't really wanna dump a sub in the massive boot it comes with. Can i rip out the cubby holes behind the seats and mock up a plywood plate to mount some 8 inch one way speakers. Can it be done? I hope so.
 
That's the factory fit spot but you'll struggle to get 8"ers in there. I'm in the throes of putting some 6.5" Ground Zeros in my cubbies using the factory plates.
 
Hey morris, thanks for the reply. So 8's are out of the question, just need a bit more kick and low end. I don't wanna go down the underseat option as i'm quite tall so i have to bottom out my seats. 'FACTORY FACE PLATES'????
 
Sorry morris, i know these will be original plates. Does taking out the cubby holes reveal the screw holes to drop these in or will i have to drill them in?
 
Pop the cubby boxes out and there's some pre-punched square holes that take fixings for the plate or anything you make up.
 
Sweet, might knock some out of plywood, the original speaker plates seem hard to find. And the ones on eBay are charging ridiculous prices just for a mounting plate.
