Not a quirky name at all but not as obvious as first seen given my car. I used to swim competitively and the team used to call me Jonnie, which is wrong I'm just plain old John but that's what they called me so when I bought my current car John-e89 fitted perfectly.

Quick thread high jack. What events did you swim John. Ex club swimmer here and my son though apparently retired, still swims at Nationals.
See vid Blue Hat Lane 2.

Now back to the thread. :)

I was a club swimmer too buzyg at Matlock ASC in Derbyshire from age 5 to 16, I won the county championship at 12 doing butterfly, my stroke, and qualified for the English nationals a few years running. Got a scholarship to Millfield school in Bath but turned it down, stupid I know, but it was becoming clear I wasn't going to make the Olympic trials due to me being only 5'6", so I stopped at 15 or 16 and went cycling instead.

It gave me enormous pride and I still love the water, hence the surfing I did for years until wife and bambino showed up.

Wow your boy is a big lad and a very good backstroke too, I was shite at backstroke.

Anyway thanks for your interest, maybe we can have a surf one day when I manage to get down to the Duchy.

Cool Edd's second stroke is Fly he got DQ' ed at that event due to a new rule on having your hands separated when you touch the wall otherwise he'd have had a new PB and county record at 24.7. Lifes a beach as they say.

He made the Olympic trials in 2012 finished 8th. got injured in 2013 and got a so called real job and just swims for fun now. I swam with Gosport Dolphins many years ago but I never raced just enjoyed it. Would be great to take the Zeds down to the beach some time. 8)

Internet forums years ago were often deemed to be places where geeks and nerds gathered.........Lance seemed to suit that, so Lance it was.

I used to own a HG lorry. My first one was a Mack truck. It was BIG and had a bullDOG on the bonnet. Bigdog was also the name of my company as well.

Mine is fairly standard nickname as it includes my surname. This nickname is perhaps used more on my brother or father but I like it too.
85 is the year I was born...

My avatar is of Jonathan Rhys-Meyers - who I like anyway but also because someone randomly told me a little while ago I looked a little like him. In a very poorly lit room, if squinting and keeping one eye closed....maybe....a little.

I'm sad so I give my cars names. I named my coupe Zelda because it's starts with a Z and when I joined this forum a changed the "a" for a 4 as it looks like an "A".

I must get out more :)

Sunn-Chipie made bikes/cycles in the 80s/early 90s and I rode their bikes. Theyre still sold in France but they dropped the 'Chipie' in the mid 90s

Jakblade because, I have been known as Jak for as long as I can remember and Blade because before I found 4 wheels as good as 2 I owned a rather sweet Honda CBR900RR Fireblade. Until arthritic knees and hips prevented me from riding in the "shittin' frog" position.

I'm also an ex biker and had a 'Blade. Never heard the term "shittin' frog" before, but wonderfully apt.

Oh - and I'm Shandy because when out on rides to the pub I only used to drink shandy - and my real name's Andy.... so it stuck with my mates and I've used it on a few other forums, too.
