Explain your name...

Leeds - you know where it is
There are some weird and wonderful names on this Forum - I mean the screen names/member name as opposed to your real life name. Thread open to anyone for two purposes: (1) very happy to see those with quirky screen names perhaps shed a bit of light on why they chose their name and (2) specific requests for member's to explain their names - it's a two-way thread.

Thread prompted by an appreciation that my screen name doesn't hold many secrets or need a great deal of explanation and also coming across a few explanations recently. Sumpcracker I remember; Worcester Spoon was only partially explained. Shed loads of others I'd be happy hearing about...

Maybe Taz could start?... :D

This is a great idea

Mine’s a bit complex so bear with me.
I’ve been writing a book for over 4 years, and decided that my pen name would be Marlon C Romnic (which is an anagram of my real name).
Anyway, when I joined the forum I thought I’d use Marlon. And for my avatar I found a quirky pic of Marlon (Brando) from the under-rated 1976 Western ‘The Missouri Breaks’.

3) Hazard a guess at user names - which become fact until the user expalins all.

Taz - I'd guess after;

Machine monkey.

Nickname given to us machinists. I also have monkey like arms according to Mrs Monkey. Although her arms are of a normal size.

Transformer named Bluestreak for the original G1 Series and also a Martin Lawrence film. 56 because its always been my fav number (because it was my fav sum when growing up - 7 x 8)

Mine is quite sad really...

I am an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer and I certify work on Airbus A320 family aircraft. Also my name is Phillip...A320_Phill!

Where I used to live....7 Lees Farm Drive....trouble is it confuses folk on here who call me Lee when I'm actually David

Roundozo - because my surname is Round and when I made a Google email account many, many moons ago I liked the Greek drink Ouzo. I did however fail to spell it correctly and its stuck with me ever since. Used this screen name for 10 or more years now!

Mrs Smartbear has always likened me to a bear & that's her pet name for me, I also had a penchant for smart cars (fortwo & roadster)
Hence smartbear :P

It's the letters on my registration plate... :D
Did I mention it's also my initials... :!:

First name "Liam", surname initial "O". Boring I know, but it makes the forum meets easier, I still see people who I only know by their forum name.

Not particularly inventive I'm afraid - Retired Prison Governor - like any other Governor grade was always referred to as Gov ( among other things  )

I live in Dumfries and do you remember those games of old where you could enter your 3 letter initial / name? I always used DIK, kind of short for Dick.

I had the username 'Tony VR6' (i.e. my name & car) when I had my Corrado VR6 and was posting on VW-Vortex and CCGB Forum, but thought it would look silly on an M5 Forum (M5Board.com).

Went through the options...m5 (gone), m-five (gone), em-five (gone), ///M5 (gone), etc. so eventually found 'mmm-five' that wasn't being used.

Used it since then (about 15 years), even though I don't own an M5 anymore, as it's what my old M5-forum friends know me as, and it's easier for them to stalk me this way.

Paul (der. . . .)

We are ex motorcyclists - the 'gs1000' bit comes from the Suzuki superbike of the mid to late 1970's, the GS1000 (we had a succession of them (3) in the past)

My avatar is meant to represent the runs we do up here with other forum members.

Jakblade because, I have been known as Jak for as long as I can remember and Blade because before I found 4 wheels as good as 2 I owned a rather sweet Honda CBR900RR Fireblade. Until arthritic knees and hips prevented me from riding in the "shittin' frog" position.
