Had the same issues on my 325i (3 series) Coil packs all OK but injectors and HPFP replaced with updated versions and all OK. Apparently a known fault and when I took it in the parts were ordered and fixed in a couple of days. It appears that on occasions some dealers cannot relate faults across models despite the same engine configuration.

Alan, its my strong held opinion that the growing reliance on a computer to tell the mechanic whats wrong with a car is causing the disappearance of skills that used to be necessary for diagnosis of faults.

Thankfully I've been spared most engine related issues other than the HPFP which was replaced within a week of purchase. I do however now have the dreaded turbo wastegate ratcheting sound at certain engine loads, which I'll wait to get really bad and then have them replaced with nice shiny improved ones under warranty hopefully.

Its a pity we don't have the 8 year warranty like they do in the good old US of A.

After all those parts being replaced does it start and idle completely smooth now?

problems started in May 2014 and it took until now to resolve it. In the end they looked at the plugs like i suggested and found all drugs damp after it had shut down. BMW warranty accepted the claim, best £380 i've spent

the bill including VAT was £2.5k

So, if your car is starting sluggishly (not the clean crisp rise to 1500 rpm and the drop back in rpm over the next minute, I'm my opinion its your fuel injectors leaking. Pull the spark plugs after a coupe of hours at rest they should be bone dry, if wet, then injectors are leaking at rest.
