Keep seeing time & time again people mention they've previously owned a MR2 before eventually owning the Zed... think it must be an evolution thing, natural selection as Darwin might say.

I still have very fond memories of my MR2, many a wild thing undertaken in that charriot, so if you'd like to share your old memories, join me in posting your pics of your past Jap love...

Owned a 1980 Honda Prelude back in the day. Does that count... ceremonially burnt all photos, so no documentary evidence survives!

We bought a 55 plate from new. It was a nice little car. We then took it to the ring and realised it was gutless and got rid of it as soon as we got back. Build quality second to none though.

Had a black MR2 G-Ltd for a while that I imported, sweet little car. Sold it to a friend who had no problems with it. I'm never sure about selling a car that has had no problems to a friend. With a bit of bad luck that can be the end of the friendship :(

Then I imported a Supra Aerotop which was in a different league really.

No pics of either remain I am afraid to say.

I had two of Mk 1 versions a Coupe and T Bar, Mica blue and red, both great cars. Sweet handling, amazingly comfy and the steering is sublime, just super-flickable  I've come close to getting one as a keeper a few times since.

And a MkII Turbo import which had wild, wild rush on the boost but was very uncompromising on the road and just wasn't a balanced package (and a non-std turbo mod blew on the way home which wasn't a good start! - the MR2 turbos have all been modified, not always well )

Never had one myself but have seen 2 crashed Mk2s at the same bit of road over the last month or so. The first was facing the wrong way on top of the central barrier just after a roundabout and the other was half way up a tree just slightly before the roundabout.

Were they a bit "lively" in the handling department or something?

Mid engine cars are all about balance & lifting off sharply if the back suddenly went is the worst thing you can do. My MR2 with yokos had fabulous grip so more looks like inexperience than the fault of the car

I had 2 a Mk1 and Mk2 rev2 loved both fabulous fun to drive but could be very lively in the wet. I'd happily have another as a toy I still think they look fantastic considering there age.

Never got to drive a turbo you would do very well to find one now though that's not been messed about with.

I had a Black / Black Leather Mk3 with hardtop for a while. I added extra bracing front & rear and also under the car which stiffened it up nicely for throwing around country roads. With the balance sorted it was one of the best 'fun' cars for zooming around B roads that I've owned - the other being a Porsche 924S. In some ways I quite miss the MR2 but I'm hoping the forthcoming Zed will remedy that.

I too had a MR2, best car i ever bought for the money :(
MkII Rev 3 Import,
Race tuned engine, filter, cams, exhaust, ECU Fuel Water and Oil pump! 215BHP
Had her 7 years and she was a DREAM (in the dry lol)

i have owned about 15 of these and was heavily into modifying them but got annoyed with the forum moderators who were a bunch of knobs, so ditched them for bmw's and havent looked back since
