Evolve carbon fibre intake- now with a video

I have been looking at changing the aribox on mine and having it re-mapped but £3k is too much in my opinion especially as i am more concerned with noise than additional power.

Geoff Steel Racing do a similar carbon airbox for the E46 M3 for £995 which interests me if it could be modified to fit or maybe it would just bolt on... I wonder whether Evolve would be happy to remap the car using the GSR airbox...

The carbon airboxes look lovely on the S54 engine and the sound is 100x better than standard.
 
Just caught up with this...

The vid makes it sound immense... like a nascar!

And thats some serious gain for a bit of a breather and remap.... should see what it would do with some free flowing cats + exhaust.

Sounds good but when you take it the cost of tune and csl dipstick, new clamps, hoses, and labour you're nudging close to 3k....

Tunes aren't cheap for alpha n

And I guess buying an intake seperately means you won't get as much aftermarket support

Yeah I was reading on cutters that you can apparently do it for around £2k if you fit it yourself although as you state you will not get the same support plus buy cheap, but twice and all that.

If I wasn't in the process of trying to buy a house I'd be less concerned about the price as come resale they (the airboxes) hold their value fairly well.

Your car looks lovely and the gains look great too. I wonder how far you could get with the Airbox, Cams, De-cat and Re-Map ~380-400bhp I guess.

A guy on here has the only other cf z4m and his has cams etcetc and is pushing 400bhp but has spent an absolute bomb on it, I'm fortunate to get this as a prototype so more affordable for me

I'm gonna look at ss exhaust next year which should take it up to 370 dyno'd hp and stop there

After that I guess weight loss for the car (I'm small so don't need to diet) and finish there

What are you expecting from the exhaust?

Was the car down on power initially and the airbox and map has given it 30bhp and you are now getting 360bhp (ish) ?

Super sprint powerloop plus tune should give 20hp according to evolve

My car was producing 320hp, which I've read a few times on m3 cutters as well as zpost is quite often the case with our engines, they produce more as speeds increase with ram air etc, so it's now producing 350hp

So with new exhaust 370 dyno'd (as in real hp not just what they print in magazines) isn't bad going
 
Sounds interesting...

I shouldn't read these threads as the more I read the more get tempted! If I keep it long enough I'm hoping mods will come up second hand like I have done so far which saves quite a bit :)

Exactly what I'm doing

And Byron will upgrade his brakes to ceramic one day do ill have his current ones

His suspension will be swapped to that electro magnetic one :thumbsup:

Sorry i thought it was still in progress. It would be good to see and hear it at a PH Sunday Service the same for Byron's...

I highly recommend changing the exhaust (at least the x-pipe and boxes) the H&S ones I have sound epic although I prefer the finish of the RPI tips.

3k is a lot but is not overboard for a 30bhp gain and awesome noise, ca automotive are doing a 30bhp tuning package for about 6k iirc (you get more items in the tuning package but result is still 30bhp)...
