Everyday driver or weekend cruiser?

How do you guys/girls find life with the Z4 as a 'only car' every day car. I don't want to place the order and then find out that it's only really suitable as a second car. There's only myself and the wife so I think we should be OK, just thought I'd ask to get a range of opinions as I've seen a lot of used Zed's with just a few thousand miles on the clock, so I don't want to buy one to then sell a few months down the line.

Also in the winter are they a beast or manageable with a bit of ice/snow?

I know that the boot isn't massive, but most things can be delivered these days...can't they!?! :?

Thanks.

Ok

Done 50,000 miles in 3 years......the boot is the only one which fits a full size samsonite suitcase, so it's great!

I have a 35iS and a Smart Fortwo cdi (54bhp). i love both and though I should be using the Smart for commuting it is sitting idle. The 35iS is getting used as it is more comfortable, quicker and nicer - it is easily an everyday driver ... :)

It's just my my wife and I now ( children all grown and flown the nest ! ) Zed is a weekender for me - as a 2 seater you are restricted in space and can't carry more than one passenger :(

Mine is an all rounder, obvious issues with trips to Homebase etc.... thats what the wife's car is for! But joking aside I spend 99% of my commuting life in a car, so the Z is perfect. BUY IT, no regrets.

Same here I use mine as an everyday drive but we have a seven seater Zafira in case we need the capacity

I use mine as an everyday car, mostly driving to work + some weekend trips. Have done 100k miles so far.
For a one or two people family I think it is quite sufficient as the only car. Depends on storage needs of course, but the boot is good for the type of car and ok for shorter journeys and food purchases etc. There are some smart storage places in the cabin as well.

Had doubt in winter capabilities, but was surprised last winter. No problems with winter tyres on - and this was in Sweden winter conditions :)

no problems for me as an everyday car. i had my previous one for almost 2.5 years and it was fine as my only car. its only me and an occasional friend/ girlfriend so no big issues :D

Use mine all the time, yes i do have a run about as well, but i choose the zed to even pop to the shop for a loaf :!:
Drove around Europe last summer and we both had plenty to wear from what we packed into the boot. :driving:

Ours is in use every day.
My wife uses it to work every day and we share it at the weekend.
I take the mini or the bike to work, carpark is a bit busy for the Z4.
For a 2 seater the Z4 is really practical with loads of boot space.
One of our old cars was an MR2 mk2 and the boot was pathetic, probably smaller than the minis.

Only the wife and I, we use the zed all the time and if we need to carry anything big then we have the landy.
I would say for a little car the boot is quite good. Had a honda S2000 two cars before the zed so used to small boot.
Can't say how the zed behave in the winter as I've not had the car long.

Ours is used purely as a pleasure vehicle, though not necessarily as a weekender, being retired we are able to zoom off for the day when ever the sun shines, come November its in the garage till spring, and the faithful Yeti gets a bit more use.

Great as everyday car but most have access to another car for more of the carrying stuff duties so obviously if you need that capability regularly look elsewhere lol. As for winter you will need winter tyres as the summer runflats are C&%* :)

Tim.

Just picked ours up today :D It will be both for us - my everyday car replacing a mini, and at the weekends hubby will take over when we go out. However we have kids Yaris to use for tip/dirty jobs and 330 touring for family/uni/big shopping runs. Not sure what winter holds yet but luckily we have the other cars.

It'll be the weekend as it was too dark today and hubby taking it for the day tomorrow but I will do :D

The Yaris is good in snow, little skinny tyres and all! Although hubby reckons 330 is ok even being an auto. People down here in the south just don't know how to drive in snow which is the main problem. We grew up and learnt to drive in Scotland so we both respect it but also aren't as nervous as some people.
