Everyday driver or weekend cruiser?

High days and holidays , rest of the time its the old 4x4 ,come winter it gets tucked up in the garage waiting for the sun. No problems with the boot size as it's only for the sunny weather then plenty of room for shorts and T shirts.

Just picked ours up today :D It will be both for us - my everyday car replacing a mini, and at the weekends hubby will take over when we go out. However we have kids Yaris to use for tip/dirty jobs and 330 touring for family/uni/big shopping runs. Not sure what winter holds yet but luckily we have the other cars.

Congrats, any pics?

I think I would take the Yaris in the snow lol :driving:

Tim.

It'll be the weekend as it was too dark today and hubby taking it for the day tomorrow but I will do :D

The Yaris is good in snow, little skinny tyres and all! Although hubby reckons 330 is ok even being an auto. People down here in the south just don't know how to drive in snow which is the main problem. We grew up and learnt to drive in Scotland so we both respect it but also aren't as nervous as some people.

Look forward to some pics :)

Thats the problem, you can fit winter tyres etc but it won't stop someone hitting you on bald summers :o

Used to leave the Z4 in the garage over winter and will be doing the same with the M135i and will be using the trusty Z3 on all season tyres which has been brilliant in the snow :)

Tim.

The Zed is a realy comfy car to travel in. I use mine as a weekend Sunny day car. But it's fine for commuting in. Boot takes a weeks shoping for two too.

Ours is used purely as a pleasure vehicle, though not necessarily as a weekender, being retired we are able to zoom off for the day when ever the sun shines, come November its in the garage till spring

+ 1
And we use it for our annual three week (ish) Euro trip.
Other cars are both 4wd so much better suited to the weather and hills in NE England.

My Z4 is my only car so it gets used for everything. I have the option of using a hire car for work if I need to.

The reason I went with a Z4 was because it's more of a GT than a sports car. Comfortable for long journeys and plenty of toys.

The boot is a decent size, can fit two suitcases with the roof up or just one large one with the roof down.

Yeah come on California, let's see what you got!

We've been waiting so long for this!

Back on topic, I use the zed as often as possible although being retired means I don't have to go out every day. I wouldn't rely on it in severe winter conditions (I don't fit winter tyres), but have the wife's TT to fall back on at such times.

I used mine daily, to commute and for leisure. It's got a very big boot roof up and usable space roof down. It's a very practical car. So much so I can get a rear facing baby seat in the passenger seat!

Sure you can't get a Wickes kitchen in the boot and I can't get all three of us in, but we use the wife's car for that.

Zed every day, everywhere! I can't get enough of driving the Z4. On my 2nd (did 34K in 2 1/2 years in my previous 3.5i). Yes, you might need access to a larger booted vehicle if you need to transport something bulky, but we did a 2 week holiday in France last year and managed to get everything we needed in the car... and could still lower the roof!

And don't think of winter as a problem, it's an opportunity to demonstrate your driving skills!

Use mine every day to go to work in and at weekends. It's very practical, the boot is spacious and haven't had any issues in using it every day.

We were lucky last winter in that it wasnt that cold and there wasn't any snow... that might cause some issues...

We have a 320d individual M sport and an ///M Roadster that lives in the garage most of the time but I use my Zed over the other two.

My Z is only used at weekends and the odd trip to work ,i have a company Ford Mondeo for everyday use ,

I have drove mine for over a year each day and it's fine.

But when we had hail it was a nightmare even creeping caused it to slip I certainly got wide berth on that roundabout. (At least i didn't spin it  )

I am considering not driving it when it snows and getting a £500 run about for that period.

Wimp! :x My E30 M3 really was my daily drive, including snow and BLACK ice - not fun but interesting, :driving: And no crashes

I don't drive mines everyday as I live right round the corner from work but if I had to commute I'd still use the Z'd. In our house the 35is is the 'economical' car  I just love it and find excuses to get out in it. Even go visit my folks after work some nights out in the sticks. Handles the rush hour fine and it's a great place to be.

I find we can go away on holiday and fit it all in, even a tent or if I go shopping again all fits and if I don't go mental I can get the roof down for the trip back

No, it's a 1990 Nissan Skyline GTR which does an average of 8/9mpg in town and combined of 15/16mpg (if your lucky). He wants a Hummer funnily enough and I keep trying to buy a V8 RR which is a compromise. Don't really do eco, save the planet stuff in my house.
