Ever decreasing Z4M prices

997s are plummeting. Hate to tell what my dad was offered by porsche against a GT3. His is a Cs 57 with 15k on it, and every option in pristine condition.

Ye but that is a real example , that was what we got for our previous E92 M3 never buy a new car again with that depreciation.

All potent vehicles are taking a beating in this economy. Might as well hang on. Def a buyers market not a sellers.

E92 M3s are at bargain prices for what you get. But then again there is an E46 M3 convert at our local BMW dealer with 25k on it 06 plate every option ticked and its 12k. If your in the market there are some stunning exotica on offer for pittance.

The really nice M's on here generally sell very quickly at decent money (i.e VvrooomM's etc.) That will continue to be the case and as I've said many times on here, the gulf between the really nice ones, and the higher mileage, tattier ones, will grow and grow.

If you want a good 'un you'll have to fork out decent money.

i am one of the few people that doesnt care, really couldnt give a damn.

my motoring life is a hobby... i love having those special ones in the garage and i absolutely couldnt care less how much its worth or how much ive spent on it..... if i did.... i wouldnt have a hobby in motoring because its one big money pit.......

the fun, the moments, the memories with my son and our car/s is worth infinite compared to piddly loss on a car.... those memories are irreplaceable. Not only that its further tightening our bond as we do things together around the motoring circles..... i cant wait till he can properly be part of it all with me when he's older.....Priceless.

i love it all, the feeling when i get some new part and install and test it...... is just simple, harmless enjoyment.

I payed good money for mine because its a good car. Starting with a dog isnt where I wanted to be. Cheapest doesn't mean best in many areas certainly not in the car market. The cost of bringing a dog up to scratch will result in a similar cost to a good one to start with, if not more.

Your def right beedub, cars become more apart of family culture, many many fond memories with my dad that wouldn't be there otherwise. Its a hobby thats been passed to me and wouldn't want that to change and hopefully will be a part of my family in the future. If and when I have a son or daughter petrol will run through they're veins lol!

But on the flip side, money doesn't grow on trees and of corse the price has to be right.

ive had some pretty insane offers for my car..... if i was in it for the money or losses it would be gone.... ive had 1 offer from a neighbour that REALLY did make me stop and think.... still said no!!!

id rather give it to my son in 18 years.

997 indeed prices have dropped but compared to Z4MC prices, its about 50% less,which for anybody in the real world is important, because when it comes to selling, despite the protests of not caring I can guarantee you will, instead of finding a few k to to move up the car tree you'll have find 10k, which makes it much harder to justify
Having sold/bought from official Porsche centre's I know what sort of margin they work on, there usual M.O is 7k margin. I. tried to sell a 911 to them, 32k the best I could out of them and the sales guy admitted he'd offer it up a 40k. Ended up being messed about by various time wasters and only ended with an extra grand in a SOR deal.

His was the one with the worn seat bolster and kerbed CSL's? Not major jobs but if you want a top price you do them before you sell. That seat bolster looked seriously shagged for 35k miles as well. Mine's only done a few k less than that and mine is unmarked. Plus he was in two minds whether to sell or not so it was withdrawn from sale a couple of times.

Im very very tempted - my wife found the clutch on a prev mr too grabby ... but that looks like a really nice example, and on my 4k a year, it wont get into crazy miles.

Yes thats the one, which will want about £100 spending on it making probably one the best low mileage example on here and its got CSL's hardly a dog, is it?
Every second hand car has something wrong with it if you look hard enough, I suspect jamsters is better than most
The reason people withdraw the car from sale usually is no one bothers to contact them and the owner soon realizes it not worth what he wants or expected.
Keep dreaming, but when you try and sell you'll be shocked . I really look after my cars and they always compare very favourably to other cars in the market, I have never managed to sell a car for a premium over the average price range in market, buyers tend to look at the lowest price and try and get something around that price, the better cars don't even tend to get viewing in my experience regardless of supposedly better condition, thats my experience selling everything from Z4MC's/911 and nearly new Cayman s

Those in "the know" will know what car is better than others (one owner from new and the way it was treated).

Re jamster's car - I would not even give it a second glance as it shows neglect to me, i.e. can't be bothered to keep a car pristine or be careful when getting in a car. The same type of user would not possibly care about warming up the engine first etc.

I disagree with the last bit - my car is a daily driver so it's got a few stone chips and scuffs on the leather, but it's perfectly mechanically maintained, no expense spared, and I religiously warm it up etc.

On the other hand I've seen enough highly-polished concourse queens that are driven infrequently, with very low miles and with no mechanical sympathy whatsoever.

I am more suspicious of a car that's 5 years old with 10k miles on the clock than I am of one with 50k on it.

I agree and disagree, mine is driven but I also keep it in spanking condition. The bolster wears on the drivers side, you cant help it but its easy to keep on top of it. Especially if the car has 2-3 owners.

I am wary about both high and low milage, wary about every car. But you can tell visually how well the car has been looked after. Depends on every car. I think Jamsters car was stunning but it does have some visual issues that would make you think twice. But as a potential buyer I would expect it to be perfect as it was top book, wouldn't have taken much and would put people off right away. Its like a phycological thing... Everyone on here had already seen the problems.

He didnt want to sell, and seemed like it was rushed to sale without too much attention.

Depends on the buyer type. As the M is more of a "special" car, I would want both cosmetic and mechanical perfection when buying one. Neglect or carelessness in either department would put me off, but that is me - perhaps not every other buyer.

A buyer like me (well, perhaps not quite like me as I buy new), is looking for something special and will pay for it whilst any car in less than that condition will automatically fall in the "average" category where you will have buyers that only verify autotrader prices for comparison.
