Eventuri VAI Carbon Intake Kit for the Z4M details

Afternoon All,

I've just gotten home after today's open day, myself and Ninarvana both purchased an intake kit, and I had my car dyno'd before and after.

The Dyno results showed a 12bhp gain, from approximately 3500RPM upwards, in terms of driving, I'm not sure 12bhp makes that much difference, the car definitely feels a bit more eager when accelerating, a smoother delivery, definitely notice some difference (even if it is a placebo from the sound)

But the sound, wow, I am completely in love. Bilal fitted the kit for me (took about 15-20 min) then Nina and I went for a drive, the sound was enough to get her to purchase one too.

It's a great raspy growl, instantly noticeable under acceleration from 2500rpm, but at a constant load, or slight acceleration low down in the rev range the noise is still stock, no anti-social tones, or drones that you wouldn't want to hear, the car in effect keeps its refinement.

I'm chuffed really happy with the results, I wasn't getting the intake for performance gains, but was glad to see that Bilal's claims are backed up, the engine definitely feels a bit torque-ier low down.

I'll post photos and a scan of the dyno runs when I get a chance.

Great gains from just a filter, especially on this engine! Did anyone else get some before and after runs and were the gains similar?

I don't think it's a better outright gain than an airbox but when you consider no remap has been done then it really is a great bang for your buck. With a remap then I'd imagine you'd be very close to the full fat airbox but for a fraction of the cost.

How much BHP do you get from CSL airbox conversion then? Just the airbox and and software, not the CSL cams ?

Sounds like it's a  from you then.

I really wish I'd made it done today so I could hear it for myself.

.....So should I buy one???

Great stuff Steven and Nina. Whetted my appetite for Tuesday even more!

Were you impressed with the quality? Mine looks very impressive.

Nobody else had comparisons today, but I know during development, KatieK's car showed gains of approx 10bhp (1st page) so fairly consistent.

Eventuri have also just finished development of their intake for the F-Type, which has shown gains of 25-30bhp....apparently the OEM intake is horribly inefficient and a real limiting factor.

Yeh, thumbs up from me. The quality of the kit is very high and Bilal is a very knowledgable guy and will be happy to explain the benefits far better than I can. He is a qualified aeronautical engineer and said that he's always had a passion for cars (especially BMW's...he owns a very nice E39 M5) and seeing some of the poor intake designs made him cringe. He really filled me with confidence.

It's worth saying also, the quality of the kit is amazing. The carbon weave is flawless, there was a Geoff Steel CSL style aribox fitted in one of the M3s at the meet and you could see how the weave was distorted around some of the curves / undulations.

Should you buy one....if you're after an enhanced intake growl then I'd say yes. I haven't heard a GruppeM in real life at full chat, but having just driven 100 miles home with this, I can't see how the GruppeM can justify its price.

Yeh, quality looks very very good OG and is something that Bilal is very proud of. I love the air scoop poking out from behind the grilles, looks menacing

that looks ace in the engine bay!

Surely with the sealed construction & scoop means this is now the new benchmark in terms of CAI for the s54 on the e8* models?

Any better pics Stephen ?

Specifically how it mounts and how it seals behind the headlight ?

Afraid I don't at the moment, these were just a few quick pics.

Mounting was fairly easy though, took 20 min and uses existing fixings in the engine bay, no need for cable ties / drilling new holes. The intake isn't sealed behind the headlight mind, just positioned there.

So i went for a run in Steven's car, whilst he wasn't looking...

Definitely a lovely improvement in sound, id say its almost half way to a CSL's roar - and appeared primarily under load. I'll be ordering one once i've bought my new fridge/dishwasher/washingmachine :(

I have a question....

Why is the limiter at 8200rpm when the filter is fitted?

Surely it would still be at 8000rpm? As per standard car?
