Basically, EPS light fires, steering jolts (very uncomfortable and provides a reasonable fright) like it's on lock when not fully on left/right lock but not far off. Almost like it's turning too far in one direction or tuther.
Yep, it's heat related and ticks many issues raised with sticky steering, only on lock though and only when the cockpit temp is high (as it will be being in Scotland). It's a mare for parking, either EPS goes completely (need Poppeye arms at crawling speed) or returns, soon to stop suddenly (jolt). Managed to get myself stuff at a car dealership for the missus, tight 3 pointer and had to stop, cool (and blast the freeze button), ignite and complete the manoeuvre much to my embarrassment and sore wrists (the missus stopped suggesting things after the second sweary word).
I can force the issue with heat so here's the DIS screens...


Not present as light went off moving away from full lock. Other codes are being dealt with, front load sensor for headlights was replaced last week and showing again
Complains about voltage/phase and OK, I get the charger warning running diags but battery is good and well maintained. A while ago working on DSC issues which turned out to be Steering Angle Sensor related so that has been recalibrated correctly. It's not the same symptoms as the notchy/sticky steering, car is and drives perfectly other than this issue but did the drill/lube fix anyway (no change). No-one seems to have nailed the fix other than swapping out the column (BMW apparently redesigned the column after a certain date)?
There's mentions on Yaw sensor but not sure where this is located? Under voltage it certainly isn't though something's obviously under load and subject to heat. Asked for all the steering joints to be cleaned/lubricated during the last specialist service which they showed me. Would love to say those words and just swap out the column, may eventually have to! It's been a big spend over the last 3-4 months and I'm kinda getting to 'that' point, the missus can drive me to the dealership!
