ITALY PLAYED MUCH BETTER .SHOULD NEVER MISS A PEN . :headbang:

MANAGER HAS NOT GOT ENOUGH PASSION

Agree about penalties but not about the manager. Roy Hodgson is a good manager.

Come on. Not the manager's fault. He's got them defensively well organised. It's not his fault that these players can't string 5 passes together. They're very overrated.

+1 on that. Roy has done a good job in the little time he has had so far. The team is very overhyped IMO. TBH they were lucky to make it from the group stages.

Don't think it's Roy's fault and that's coming from a Liverpool fan too!
Defensivley we dealt with pretty much everything that came our way. I think Rooney was pretty bad game. Against a team like Italy you needed a physical striker to hold the ball ie Carroll. but Roy chose not play him. So partly Roy's fault but he's not going to get it right straight away

If England manager was Harry Redknapp, the result could be different.

Do enlighten us.

You can blame this that and the other, the reason and only reason England lost tonight, (and in the last 4 tournaments at the QF stage) is that the concept of ball retention is lost on the players due to the way we have taught at junior and youth level until very recently. If you spend 120 min chasing the ball your going to eventually loose your discipline and ability to break. The only player I would single out for criticism is Ashley Young, he's far to slow to see the play develop and holds on to the ball to long etc.. Some folks typically have had a go at Rooney, well, he's only as good as the service he's getting, and if you REALLY know football, you'd know he work incredibly hard for a forward. Well done England.

What a crap game Young had, should never have been on to take a penalty :headbang:

Well there you have it. England showed once again that they can't pass. At least we went out on penalties. We would have had our arses kicked by Germany next match, and that would have been too much to take... And at least I can enjoy the matches from here on in. Tonight was torture. :(
