Energy price cap

Amazing to think in the 21st century more and more pensioners will now have to choose between food or not freezing to death.

Woefull lack of planning by the Government.

Tim.
Woeful lack of standing up to a few green protesters and not going ahead with Fracking. The USA did and their gas and energy costs are half of ours and dropping.

Sadly this requires planning on a 20+ years scale... nothing a candidate/government aiming at the next 4 years will do properly...

Ever heard of climate change and local environmental damage?

Certainly have and climate change has been happening long before man was on this planet. As for local environmental damage not happening in the USA and I suspect damage to poor people and their lives is more pressing type of damage. That is real.

The mechanics of the price cap varies by region (as in the split between standing charge and unit price).

For reference - https://www.ofgem.gov.uk/sites/default/files/2022-02/Default%20tariff%20cap%20level%20-%201%20April%202022%20-%2030%20September%202022.pdf

For the Eastern region, I make the standing charge £0.3609 a day and £0.2785 per kWh - both plus VAT.

Agreed. Initially when you see documentaries about oceanic ice receding back in Greenland you think there must be something wrong But then you see historical documentaries about Vikings that originally settled and farmed the west coast of Greenland. If it was green pasture 1000 years ago and now it's covered in ice that tells me we shouldn't worry if it melts again.

I believe here in the Northeast the Romans grew grapes and hops for their wine and beer. Must have been a lot warmer then than now.

When Climate change enthusiasts rant I always think, I hear what you are saying to support your theories, but what are you not saying that doesn't?

Waiting paid off, as I have now been offered a fixed rate for 2 years with Scottsih Power:

23p a day
27.5 p/kwh during the day
18p night rate (Econ 7)

Still twice the current rate, but given what is going on in the world I don't think I will get it any better and rather have certainty for 2 years.
