End of my era with a Z4

Yup....hate to write this but several major reasons have made me consider changing to a different vehicle: my financial situation is one of them but the major consideration is my wife. Besides my battle with lung cancer and subsequent surgery last year, my wife had 2 major back surgeries as well. She has no problem sitting in the Z4 and still enjoys the ride but ingress and egress is uncomfortable and would continue to be during her lengthy recuperation. So after 2 Z4's, plenty of mods, 5 years and close to 100,000 miles of pure delight it is time for change. I have been looking at a used 3 Series that caught my eye while at my dealer. Sure I thought maybe the new Z4 might be interesting to consider but I don't care for the redesign. It doesn't have that original appeal that the Z4 IMO will ever lose.

I started out through Roadfly then Z4um and made a home here from day one. I love this forum. More importantly, I love the people (especially all those that I have personally met over the years). Through this medium I made decision early on to meet with many of you at my first Homecoming in 2005 and then 2006, 2007 and the final one, Homecoming 2008. The last HC was more than special. I can't express the words to describe those few days we all got together from not just the corners of North America but internationally (thanks, Terry) as well. We were a group that IMHO surpassed many of the other well-established Z4 car clubs with our energy, camaraderie and enthusiasm.

I won't be leaving this forum as I cherish my friendship with many of you and hopefully many others that will join in here and perhaps meet in the future.

I'm in the process of de-modding my Z4 and will have an extensive list to sell.

A few of these that I will be selling are the Sapphire Black Aero bumper cover(with clear bra) along with Aero SideSkirts. It is highly suggested that the Aero bumper clear bra cannot be removed and therefore the bumper cover cannot be painted. It is also strongly suggested that these be picked up rather than shipping via UPS or FedEx etc. I am considering that these and other particular items will be listed on the For Sale Forum with bids taken privately. Anyway, anyone that has serious interest in the Aero bumper cover and/or the Aero side panels please PM me with your inquiry. Shipping costs will be the responsibility of the buyer and all items will be paid in full via Paypal prior to shipment. All items will be shipped from 66226.

I will also have a long shopping list of other items.

Cheers,
Greg

Sorry to see that your giving up the Zed as I know how much it means to you but family does come first... :driving:

Too bad you have to sell your baby, ducks, but as far as this forum, you're a lifer---you can never escape

(3 series are fun too, so you'll do fine :D . Hope your whole family recovers completely and SOON)

Hey Greg,
That must be a really tough decision to make, but understandable. Look forward to seeing you on the board and what Bimmer you end up swapping to

Sorry to here about the Z. But like WLH said family is first. Glad to see that you are going to stay on the board. If we come through your area again we will look you up.

What they all said, Greg. Glad you're staying to keep PhilDZ4 on the straight and narrow, we couldn't do it without you.

Sure is a shock to hear that, but fully understood of course. Good luck with the hunt for the replacement, and good to hear you will stay here.

You'll miss your Z but I am sure all of us will go through this sooner or later.

Of course that's assuming you ever owned one to begin with! :poke:

Sorry that circumstance is such that you must sell the Zed. I know you did not come to that conclusion easily. Thank you for your advice and friendship to me while I have been a member of this form. I wish you well in the future and hope your recovery both physically and financially goes well. :)

Blah!

:poke:

Just kidding! Fully understand the necessity to move on due to comfort, finances, etc. It has been fun getting to drive with you, and chauffeur you around, till you were actually able to borrow the neighbor's Z for HC'08 :P
At least you are going to hang around and keep the scales balanced. :)

Sorry to hear your selling, but the reasons are justifiable. You'll for sure have a home here. So you better stay and keep posting. :D

WaZZZZman, thanks. btw, my medical bills totalled just less than $100k. Insurance covered a goog part but I still owe quite a bit. My wife's 2 surgeries totaled about the same. Even after this amount of time a bill or 2 will trickle. They are, however, better than funeral home bills.

wow dude... you're a man of character.

i have fun in your next bimmer... and, see you around the board.

all the best*

Sorry to hear that 20Ducks, although I fully understand your reasoning... $100k eh, as much as I bitch and moan about this country am glad not to have that worry...that's harsh!

All the best for your health, your finances, and your future (and glad you're sticking around  )

Go for the 335 Greg - Remember how much fun those were at HC08! Now I'm getting emotional - your spirit is inspiring Greg - hope to see you soon! BTW; you're not getting out that easy - once a member, always a member!

Good luck to you. Have you considered an X3 or an X5? they are fun to drive and egress and ingress are easy on the back.

20ducks, you should have stayed in the UK. Coronation Street and the NHS

Coronation Street is brill.

NHS...hmmmm, I'd still be waiting on the list (unless I went private) to go under the knife. Besides that I hear that one must bring their own leeches for recovery....hehe.
