Emissions Light and Engine Popping

Hi all

Drove circa 200miles yesterday and nearing the end of the journey the Engine Management/Emissions light came on.
When idling, there is a very loud popping noise from the under the bonnet, almost like a loose spark plug or similar. The noise is there at idle and the engine is loud when accelerating although there seems to be no loss of power or change in fuel consumption.

Have read the codes as attached. I can’t believe the noise is a result of the oxygen sensor failing. Any thoughts?

With the "popping" it sounds like either your manifold has cracked or as happened on mine, the cat container has cracked. Either way it can be welded.

Thanks for the replies.

Few more questions:
What sort of cost am I looking at to get this welded then?
Does the manifold need to be removed or can it be welded in place?

Judging by other posts on the topic it’s a common fault

On mine the container that the cat is enclosed in was cracked, looked a bit like a cracked egg. So had it TIG welded by 'Mister Tyre' in Leicester, they are mainly exhaust specialists.

The full cost was in the region of £170 but they had to remove the full exhaust up to the manifold to do the job. Not had a problem since. I think it was about 2 years ago.

Hope you get yours sorted at reasonable cost mate.

Cheers, tug

Update on the above.

It was indeed a hairline crack in the exhaust manifold. Removed all the guards and took it to an exhaust weld specialist, 30 minutes later and £30 later and it’s all fixed
Cleared the code and it hasn’t returned. Thanks all!
