My batteries (2 AA or otherwise), have given me 96 MPG over 6 weeks and that includes using the petrol engine on 2 long journeys and some shorter ones. Electricity charges are minimal (5 hours through a 13amp plug on a low tariff).

But, I have heard that some employees who are given these vehicles for tax reasons, don't even bother to charge them and just run them as petrol cars. Appalling really, but as I said earlier the world is full of chancers.

How does the low tariff work? I presume you have to prove you have an plug-in EV? Do you get a separate meter for one circuit for charging? How cheap is the tariff? I'm interested as didn't realise this was the case :)

There will not be a low tariff for EV's once the majority have been forced to buy one. They will have to replace the loss on fuel duty somehow.

MHEV is mild hybrid electric vehicle - just uses the battery to give a bit f extra shove saving fuel as you accelerate I believe - :D

OH I am pretty certain this is the case - just BIK is gong to increase from 2022 for elec vehicles :(

Loads in my wife’s company all now driving hybrids having swopped 320d’s for 330e’s and C220d’s for 300e’s

They are all on company fuel cards ... not one of them. EVER gets plugged in

Instead of trawling the motorways doing 70mpg they are doing it at 25mpg with much higher co2 emissions than before

We did the sensible thing as Mrs is now working from home f/t and binned the co car completely .... and bought a diesel mini to replace it :thumbsup:

Yep, doesn't surprise me in the least. Yet another example of our clever Government being instantly out-witted by the manufacturers and owners/drivers. "Necessity is the mother of invention" again.

You don’t need an EV to get the tariff. I’m on octopus so all my energy between 1230 & 430 is at 5p kw. Well 4.8 so not only am I charging my EV but I’m also running the dishwasher and washing machine during these periods. I have an active family and my monthly DD has dropped from 148 to 111. It’s still going down as well. The great S Khan of London :rofl: gave me money to install an EV charger so quids in for me. Just my experience owning an EV.
