I bought a 2003 3.0 and was perfectly happy with it until I read this thread on ride height: http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=25985
With 18" 108s on mine, and it being a 3.0 it seems it should have "sports" suspension and so should have a ride height of 602 front, 588 rear. Only I had 590 front, 610 rear!
Perhaps with hindsight it did look like it wanted to ram itself into the ground!
Trying to work out what the problem was, I assumed it might bizarrely have Eibach front, and normal suspension at the rear (as if the previous owner has replaced the rear suspension with standard rather than sport or Eibach).
So i've bought Eibach Pros, and installed them at the rear. Haven't done the front yet as it requires sending it to a garage and the front height in fact looks correct for Eibachs. I now have 590 front, 588 or so rear. But according to the above link, Eibachs should lower the rear to about 573 or so. So it hasn't gone down as much as it should.
My queston is, might I have another problem e,g, faulty shocks at the rear. Might they push it up? It just seems odd that it was originally too high, and now the Eibachs are in at the rear, it's only lowered it to Sports suspension height, not Eibach height.
Must admit it actually doesn't look too bad, but this forum makes me agonise over millimetres in ride height. Damn you forum!
