Right, where to start...
I'm not from Edinburgh but I'm close enough - Falkirk where I stay is 25mins on the train away
Things to do:
-
Edinburgh Castle (very impressive, worth a visit)
-
Mary King's Close evening tour (a tour of the old city streets, they built the new buildings over the top of it)
-
National Museum of Scotland (I've not been yet but supposed to be good)
-
Dymanic Earth (science-type stuff, more suited to kids and young-minded lol)
-
St Giles' Catherdral is supposed to be good too
- there's the Royal Yacht Brittania docked down in Leith but it's not really my thing
- take a train from Edinburgh Waverley station (in the middle of the city) across into Fife (e.g. Dunfermline, but it's a dump

), and you'll go over the
Forth Rail Bridge
Places to eat:
- loads of places but I don't tend to eat out in Edinburgh a lot so can't really advise much!
- I do like
International Starters as it's a bit different and the food is awesome
Places to drink:
- this is what Scotland does as a national pasttime :icb:
- the
Grassmarket area is packed full of pubs/bars, as is
Rose Street (runs parallel to Princes' Street but one street north)
Accomodation - can help with, but if money's no object then you can't beat the Balmoral!
Might be worth posting up in the Scotland section of Pistonheads as you'll get a LOT of info on there:
LINKY. I post on there a bit too... Plus you'll get advice on good parking too for your Z4 if you bring it...
