ebay auction Z4M roadster - with no reserve...

+1. He/she will know what they are prepared to accept and if the auction doesn’t appear to be going to get close to that figure I bet it will be withdrawn on some pretext.

For £5k is the cheapest 340 ponies available on the planet

Advert looks pretty genuine, and the seller has 100% feedback - but why would you even think of selling that with no reserve?

Even if you're desperate surely you'd want some sort of safety net? :o

It's eBay, as IRD said, they can always find a reason to halt the sale so that's their safety net...

Exactly. Hence my earlier prediction about it completing and then mysteriously relisting. I've seen it so many times... list something with no reserve to generate interest but have a "back up" bidder as the safety net.

Clearly, I'm not saying that's what's going on here, just saying it's a possibility. Another possibility is it's just simply pulled like others have said.

Doesn't mean it's a bad car though.

The ad' is bidding up, currently £7,300, he might do OK

....... and for some facts about the car :)

The MOT history is not great with regular fails and being re-presented with advisories still lurking, including the last MOT in Aug 18 when it still had corroding brake pipes and questionable suspension bushes at the re-test. That and the surface corrosion on the engine and hubs means it's never been, or going to be a garage queen show car without a lot of work, but might be a good drivers tool so long as the oil and valve clearances have not been neglected as well. My bet is they have been scrimped on :|

Registration dates means it’s one of the rare ‘cheap tax’ cars
Great spot! Could save the prospective owner hundreds or even thousands if kept for a decent amount of time.

Urgh that MOT history! For me MOT history speaks volumes about car ownership. A fail here or there for something that’s maybe unable to be checked without a ramp ok that’s fine but things that are pretty apparent like wipers makes you wonder if they’ve actually been bothered to maintain it really. And those headlights, if I fails so often surely you check prior to sending it for the MOT? Even if your not sure get a pre test done for the peace of mind and a decent looking MOT certificate.

Funnily enough I knew I needed something done on one of my cars and got it done prior to the MOT, my dads motto was let it go through the MOT and see if it’s picked up - eh no :headbang:

Its a bit like the people who say that their car will pass as they know the MOT tester.
I would rather my car failed if it had something wrong with it and have it fixed than carry on with something wrong but it had an MOT.

Excatly. The thing is he knew it would be picked up but it would then be fixed but for me I’d rather it passed first time not fail, fix and pass especially for something so blatant (it was the brake warning light due to a faulty sensor on the Sport and it came on a week before the MOT) Like I said if it’s something you can’t see then fair play but if it is then it should be attended to before the MOT.

Just like advisories, they should be looked at and not be on the certificate year after year. Saying that Brake pipes are based on opinion and differ from one tester to another, unfortunately.

I always give my cars a good going over before it goes for a MOT and I pay particular attention to lights, brakes, tyres, suspension and under the body for any small leaks.
